These resources span my career; from my period of teaching unqualified, through to an AST of English & Director of Teaching & Learning. Although my specialism is English, I have taught GCSE Citzienship, Language and Lit, Media Studies, Maths & History. I have also taught all of those at Key Stage 3, so there is an eclectic mix here. As the main trainer in my previous school, I have uploaded many insets and training session powerpoints too.

Titanic Literacy Unit Lesson 1 This is one of the lessons from a unit of work on The Titanic. The unit explores the Titanic and uses this as the context. Pupils learn and engage with it and develop their literacy at the same time. Ideal for Histpry lessons as well as English and targeted at year 7 level 4 learners. OfSted Outstanding Literacy All lessons Starter: 6

OfSted Outstanding Literacy All lessons Starter: With a new shift in focus for the 2012 framework that means that teaching and learning can only be judged outstanding if literacy and numeracy are encorporated across the curriculum, I am making a daily starter / settler activity that can be incorporated into all lessons. These mini activities are examples of a literacy activity & there is a tutorial before each. These are going to be made daily, so I'll upload them é I hope they will help other schools to boost literacy teaching. This one is about verb accuracy.

I was asked to teach discursive writing to a bunch of boys that needed to have it finished in a day. Thios is the amalgamation of a full scheme of work that i used to inspire and enthuse them. It's a bit gory - but it engaged them and got them writing!

This is one of my training PPs as a PDF so that it an be used as a guide for anyone who would like some ideas as to how to teach it. I did this for all of the 'Teach First' English teachers in Manchester last year and they loved the session and the ideas, so I hope it will help others too.
