WJEC Legacy Spec Reading Skills Lesson Although this was originally created for the legacy spec teaching the reading sections of WJEC, the skills in this PP lesson are still relevant as it covers how to tackle reading questions in general and therefore can be updated / adapted for use.

Rime Of the Ancient Mariner full PP lesson This is one of nine lessons that form the analysis of the Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. The lessons are aimed at Key Stage 3 and have a variety of tasks in them to help support pupils in accessing the poem. Oliver Twist – What does B grade Reading look like? This full lesson teaches pupils how to tackle a reading response and it uses exemplar material as well as providing words to work with in PEA chains.

This is one of a series of lessons/ activities / worksheets that I am uploading on the old AQA anthology poems. The lessons obviously have a comparative strand running through them and there are lessons for all of the poems from Cluster 1 and 2 uploaded as well as lessons that compare two poems or teach how to analyse them / compare them. Obviously no use for the old spec, but entirwely useful for the poetry comparison piece of controlled assesment in the new AQA spec.

For those schools who are still using the optional tests to test pupils throughout key stage 3, these are a seies of lessons that I have uploaded - with the same heading for ease of searching - that cover how to tackle them and how to succeed in both reading and writing. This is one of a full unit of lessons that I have uploaded with their resources. You can teach the lessons by themselves and without the others, or feel free to use them all. If you type 'spoken language study Miss R' into a resources search at the top of the screen, they will all come up More…in a list. This one is a lesson that is a front slide with a reminder of how the planning sheet can be used. Obviously must be turned off before pupils start!

Writing to persuade - Selling The School lesson. This is one lesson with resources from a scheme of work that I've delivered about informative and persuasive writing. The theme was advterising and selling the school. The lessons obviously have context specific images and detail and you will want to change these for your own delivery but there are a variety of tasks involved that hit all different types of writing and the pupils really like the real life context. This is 1 lesson of 10 that i've uploaded - each as a separate upload with resources attached as all can be taught standalone too.

Another little literacy starter that can be copied and pasted into any lesson to add a literacy element to it.
