These resources span my career; from my period of teaching unqualified, through to an AST of English & Director of Teaching & Learning. Although my specialism is English, I have taught GCSE Citzienship, Language and Lit, Media Studies, Maths & History. I have also taught all of those at Key Stage 3, so there is an eclectic mix here. As the main trainer in my previous school, I have uploaded many insets and training session powerpoints too.

With these resources, I get the pupils to imagine that they are one of the teachers. I give them the advice on the CV and the job advert and tell them to write a CV for the character - great for getting into the character and for functional / contextual learning.

All you have to do with this is cut out the words - Basically, you give a word in the story (one of the homphones) to the pupils and they will keep it. As you read the story and say their word, their job is to stand up and check if it is the correct spelling! Great fun and an easy way to get perceptions of homophones corrected with whole class involvement and engagement.

This is a full lesson PP that takes the lyrics from the song silence - about bullying - by the TING TINGs and uses it and the video for a series of other activities to engage pupils - massively differentiated and ideal for mixed ability teaching. L/O: To analyse how language can be contextualised to make it powerful.
