The premise of our year 9 curriculum is that we start to get pupils used to the GCSE controlled assessment model by teaching them the skills that they need to pass Lang and Lit. This scheme covers Media and Non Fiction and More… More… this lesson can be taught alone or with the others. This lesson gets the pupils to demonstarte all they have learnt in an ICT suite.

This is a full powerpoint lessons, ready to teach but you will want to adapt it / update it for your own context. This lesson covers the skills of redrafting and I use it with all of the other stuff that I've uploaded on Sci Fi but it can be used separartely from that.

Target Setting Lessons to Boost Pupils from 3 to 4: These lessons are part of a project that is challenged with boosting pupils from level 3c to 4c. Each week starts with a new focus on literacy, numeracy, kagan techniques and a personal target. Pupils need a target book to work with and this less More…on is delivered at the begining of every week. Targets are then tracked through all of their lessons for the week to chart their progress. There are serveral lessons available for the start of every week. This is lesson 7.

It's aimed at Key Stage 3 and was written in my PGCE year, so may need some updating and tying into APP criteria to upgrade it, but it's certainly a good starting place.

It's for teaching on the new English specification question on comparing poems from other cultures.

Holes SOW Lesson PPs to support text; lesson This is one of a series of lessons that i have uploaded to structure the reading of the text Holes - aimed at year 8, the scheme breaks down the chapters / character and themes and prepares students of literature study. made in my PGCE year, so not great but can be adapted and should provoke ideas for lessons, if nothing else.

Apprentice Scheme - Analytical Writing - lesson 5 This is one of a series of 6 lessons that are modelled on the Junior Apprentice. Pupils are encouraged to invent their own Ice Cream Product and launch it . They write a pitch for their product which can be assessed - either against FS level 2 criteria in English or NC APP levels. There are 6 lessons altogether - all uploaded separately and then the resources are uploaded as a separate upload together.

Identity 5 – Opinions This is a full lesson PP, ready to use, although you will want to update it for your own use - that covers the theme of identity. This lesson has Learning objectives of To be able to compare and contrast ideas and opinions. To be able to persuade someone to believe in your opinion.

This is one of many resources, full lesson powerpoints and quizes that I have uploaded on the short story 'Through The Tunnel'. The lessons aim to encouage pupils to read the story, evaluate the ending and then write an alternative ending. Great for practising narritive and imaginative writing skills. I use it with mixed abiility year 9 pupils and APP it for a level. All resources are uploaded with the same heading for ease of search if you'd like to use them together. Pupils really enjoy this unit.

Reading Challenge Lesson 6 These are a series of lessons and pps that were designed to support the delivery of the Dfes unit of work on Reading Skills. There are 12 lessons altogether and i have uploaded them all as separate entities as each can be used as a standalone lesson or you can use all 12. The lessons explore different reading skills and they are aimed at year 7 readers - level 4.

Writing To Describe Techniques & Stimulus PP This is a full lesson PP on the topic of writing to describe - I've uploaded 13 in total from this series and all have avrious different stimuli but use the same techniques of appealing to the senses and covering writing techniques. Alll can be used together or as standalone - just may need some adapting to your own topic.

I am working with an exceptional trainee at the moment & we are promoting the work of author Roger Hurn. He uploads his work to the TES é we have downloaded it for our level 2 é 3 Year 7s. This lesson is lesson 2, where pupils turn the events of his story into news writing.
