This is one of several tutorials that I use with pupils to get them to invesitigate an element of pre 1914 poetry so that they can present back to the class and teach the class. They create a lesson on the topic and the pp that I have uploaded is their guide to what they should be researching. Dual assessed as a speaking and listening activity. This one is on the courtly love tradition

These are a series of lessons that I used with my low ability year 7s to get them to engage with letters that had been sent from China. The letters are attached as images if you want some inspiration. The lessons go through letter writing and how to attempt writing to others.

Selling Ice Cream – Set Up A Company This is a full self contained lesson plan that can be used on it’s own or can be taught as a full scheme of work alongside the other 6 that I have uploaded. All lessons start with the name Selling Ice Cream for ease of finding. These uploads are presentations that can be used to show pupils what they should be creating to support their pitch

This is part of a full scheme of work - all uploaded as separate powerpoints, as they are separate resources under the title 'Ballads Full Scheme of Work; Lesson Number' There are up 14 lessons, but the last three are covered by a writing frame as lessons 11 - 14. It's aimed at Key Stage 3 and was written in my PGCE year, so may need some updating and tying into APP criteria to upgrade it, but it's certainly a good starting place.

Harry Potter – The Wedding This is one lesson of several lessons that I have uploaded (with resources if applicable) on the novel harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. All of the lessons are PowerPoints that are ready to teach, although you may wish to adopt them for your own context. This full lesson covers how atmosphere and mood are created in the above named section.

This is one of a series of lessons that I am uploading on the old AQA anthology poems. The lessons obviously have a comparative strand running through them and there are lessons for all of the poems from Cluster 1 and 2 uploaded as well as lessons that compare two poems or teach how to analyse them / compare them. Obviously no use for the old spec, but entirwely useful for the poetry comparison piece of controlled assesment in the new AQA spec.

AQA New Spec Comparing Poetry Scheme lesson This is one fuly self contained lesson (with resources enclosed) of a scheme of work of 15 lessons that compare the poems Presents From My Aunts with Hurricane Hits England. It's for teaching on the new English specification question on comparing poems from other cultures.

This is one lesson that I have taken from a whole scheme of lessons. Each poem can be used as an individual lesson, or, if you would like to teach all of the lessons, search for ' Poetry Scheme - 3 Poems - Lesson Miss R' and they should all come up for you to work with. At the end of the unit, there is a reading and writing assessment that involves analysis and creativity too. This lesson sets the pupils off on their assessment without the books, but is still scaffolded with some ideas.

After Key Stage 3 pupils have completed their narritive writing pieces, they can use this very simple sheet to let you know how they feel about it.

Really simple lesson settler / starter - other words; changing words.

This lesson helps pupils to come up with lots of ideas about what makes a good teacher and a good lesson - used in PHSE, this helps pupils tp get contents and ideas for analytical writing.

Interactive lesson plan for Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Explores how Capulet affects Juliet's identity and shapes the outcomes of the play.

Identity 4 – Character and Language This is a full lesson PP, ready to use, although you will want to update it for your own use - that covers the theme of identity. This lesson has Learning objectives of: To be able to empathise with a character and understand why we empathise. To be able to comment on the language used by an author and state why the language is effect.

I use these targets when I am preparing pupils for any reading exam to help them to focus on their needs. Every pupil has one in their book so that I can just give them the number when marking.

Writing To Describe Techniques & Stimulus PP This is a full lesson PP on the topic of writing to describe - I've uploaded 13 in total from this series and all have avrious different stimuli but use the same techniques of appealing to the senses and covering writing techniques. Alll can be used together or as standalone - just may need some adapting to your own topic.
