Reading Challenge Lesson 12 These are a series of lessons and pps that were designed to support the delivery of the Dfes unit of work on Reading Skills. There are 12 lessons altogether and i have uploaded them all as separate entities as each can be used as a standalone lesson or you can use all 12. The lessons explore different reading skills and they are aimed at year 7 readers - level 4.

Manchester Music – Panic This is one lesson of several lessons that I have uploaded (with resources if applicable) on music – with a particular context of music from Manchester. All of the lessons are PowerPoints that are ready to teach, although you may wish to adopt them for your own context. This full lesson covers writer’s viewpoints in music

This lesson is predominantly aimed at the poetry question for the legacy spec - however, it can easily be tailored for study of any comparative texts by changing the texts and the mark schemes within it. I thought it was worth uploading for the structure that can be used.

This is a PP and brief that sets pupils up to investigate and present an Armitage poem to the class.

AQA New Spec Comparing Poetry Scheme lesson PP This is one fuly self contained lesson (with resources enclosed) of a scheme of work of 15 lessons that compare the poems Presents From My Aunts with Hurricane Hits England. It's for teaching on the new English specification question on comparing poems from other cultures.

This is one lesson that I have taken from a whole scheme of lessons. Each poem can be used as an individual lesson, or, if you would like to teach all of the lessons, search for ' Poetry Scheme - 3 Poems - Lesson Miss R' and they should all come up for you to work with. At the end of the unit, there is a reading and writing assessment that involves analysis and creativity too. This lesson covers how to complete the planning sheet to prepare for the controlled assessment conditiions

This is a full lesson PP that is ready to teach as it is - although you may wish to adpat it for your own class and context. I've uploaded the others in the series with resources under the same title of 'Autobiography C/A for D/C borderliners'. I'm using this for teaching the AQA controlled assessment writing element for my D/C Borderlie English class - same topic but different lessons. This lesson is where pupils larn how to reveal info and analyse the grade criteria.

AQA Lang Controlled Assessment Oliver Twist lsn This is a scheme of work that was used for coursework on the old spec. & it can now be adapted é changed for the teaching of Oliver Twist (pre 1914 prose). This was written to gather info. on how the state treated Oliver but can now be used for either identity or family, depending on the year of entry. All lesson powerpoints have been uploaded as separate lessons with the same heading above, so they can be easily searched for and resources that I have, are uploaded with the lessons too for ease of locating.

Writing to persuade - Selling The School lesson. This is one lesson with resources from a scheme of work that I've delivered about informative and persuasive writing. The theme was advterising and selling the school. The lessons obviously have context specific images and detail and you will want to change these for your own delivery but there are a variety of tasks involved that hit all different types of writing and the pupils really like the real life context. This is 1 lesson of 10 that i've uploaded - each as a separate upload with resources attached as all can be taught standalone too.

This worksheet uses a poem and has several words underlined for pupils to change. Builds up to an essay on vocabulary choices.

Identity 4 – Character and Language This is a full lesson PP, ready to use, although you will want to update it for your own use - that covers the theme of identity. This lesson has Learning objectives of: To be able to empathise with a character and understand why we empathise. To be able to comment on the language used by an author and state why the language is effect.
