Writing to persuade - Selling The School lesson. This is one lesson with resources from a scheme of work that I've delivered about informative and persuasive writing. The theme was advterising and selling the school. The lessons obviously have context specific images and detail and you will want to change these for your own delivery but there are a variety of tasks involved that hit all different types of writing and the pupils really like the real life context. This is 1 lesson of 10 that i've uploaded - each as a separate upload with resources attached as all can be taught standalone too.

This is one of several resources that I have uploaded for the teaching of Pre1914 poetry. This is taught to develop pupils comparing skills and would be relevant to the AQA new specification for language and poetry. This particular resource uses the WWTBAM format and it's a whole class quiz on a selection of poems from pre 1914.

Do We Need ICT Writing To Argue Lesson This is one of a series of 8 lessons that have all been uplaoded on the debate of whether or not we really need ICT - The scheme goes through a series of persuasive techniques - using AFOREST - amd culilates in pupils creating their own argumenet for or against the motion. Aimed at Key stage 3 - year 8.

Those that know this scheme - in which pupils are encouraged to come up with a fundraising idea, carry it out and then raise money for a charity and entering all info onto a blog - will know that the original lessons are seriously dry and do not engage pupils in the topic at all. Therefore, I've created my own - the only thing that belongs to Giving Nation is the logo, scheme and premise. The actual lessons are mine to make them pupil friendly. This is one of serveral lessons that i have uploaded from this year 9 scheme. The premise of our year 9 curriculum is that we start to get pupils used to the GCSE controlled assessment model by teaching them the skills that they need to pass Lang and Lit. This scheme covers Media and Non Fiction this lesson can be taught alone or with the others. In this lesson, the pupils have a go at writing their APP assessment.

AQA Lang Controlled Assessment Oliver Twist lsn This is a scheme of work that was used for coursework on the old spec. & it can now be adapted é changed for the teaching of Oliver Twist (pre 1914 prose). This was written to gather info. on how the state treated Oliver but can now be used for either identity or family, depending on the year of entry. All lesson powerpoints have been uploaded as separate lessons with the same heading above, so they can be easily searched for and resources that I have, are uploaded with the lessons too for ease of locating.

This is one of a series of lessons that I have created for my bottom set year 7 SEN class. Some of the pupils are also EAL, so there are French translations for instructions. This one is on creating bookmarks for their peers.

This lesson is aimed at feeding back to writers who are trying to get to level 4 after they have submitted a first draft of work.

This is a really simple idea - Pupils choose the quotes from the play - draw the setting and then annotate their drawing to explain why they chose to put things where they are.
