This download includes 1 Word Document of reading comprehension activities for chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 21. The activities link with the comprehension stratagies, prior knowledge, metalinguistics, main ideas, visualisation, critical analysis, summary and inference. The activities were co-created by a colleague and I when teaching this book as part of a modeling block. Some chapters are missing. I found it important to remind the children to answer in full sentences and provide evidence where possible to back up their ideas. This PowerPoint will allow you to display information to your class including the day and date, weather (drag the icons on the right as appropriate), lunches or other information, morning challange, a quote (I’ve included my favourite “be your best self”), and a fact of the day! Morning slides are a great way to display information to the children for their arrival into the class. With practice, the children can become independant in getting on with their morning challange or sorting out their lunches (whatever works for your class). Starter activity: How many right angles are on a football pitch? *Web search ‘football pitch with markings’ and choose an appropriate image. ⁣ Station 1: measuring angles, electric tape on every desk - differentiate. ⁣ Station 2: identifying angles on a geometric image estimating and measuring. *Web search ‘Geometric Animals’ and you should find images to choose from. ⁣ Station 3: categorising real life images of angles on the iPad and creating a keynote or iMovie explaining what the angle was and why.⁣ *AirDrop images to iPad prior to lesson. ⁣ Station 4: teacher time - drawing, estimating measuring and finding missing angles.⁣ Resources: Jotters Pencils Rubbers Rulers Protractors Tape Whiteboard pens iPads (with photos AirDropped) Hand sanitiser Geometric animals (differentiated and printed out) Smartboard/ projector Image of football pitch (print outs and on ppt) This was a fun lesson we did in P7. Each tablet is fully customisable (text/ colour/ size). The final two slides can be used as name tags for your children. Giving children jobs within the classroom enables them to take some responsibility and independence in the running of their class. In my experience children enjoy helping out and take pride in their roles. Encourage and celebrate kindness in your class with these cup of kindness appreciation tokens. The idea is that children take a cup, write how a classmate has been kind and then share it with them, and the class. I have laminated thr cups so they can be reused. You could also link this within your school/ class behaviour management by allowing 1 cup + explanation of how the child was kind to = X amount of points.
