Countable and Uncountable Noun Board Game
The Great Noun “S or Q” Challenge is a board game developed to provide opportunities for learners to practise using countable and uncountable nouns with the correct determiner or quantifier in sentences and questions. This activity encourages learners to use these grammatical structures orally and in writing as per game instructions which direct players to maintain a written record of each of the sentences or questions they create during the game and submit that record to the teacher for feedback. This feedback will provide vital information to guide subsequent instructional goals. The nouns selected for this activity feature a range of consonant blends and vowel sounds and variety in word length. To avoid ambiguity and maintain emphasis on the grammar focus of the game, the noun picture cards include the image and word. Instruction in the target grammatical structures is pre requisite for successful participation in the game, however, a review of the essential concepts prior to the game will facilitate application of those concepts.
