Discussing poetry at GCSE- terminology and discussion points. Info on Unseen Poetry exam.
I found that students were making very weak comments about the effects of poetic devices in poetry. Therefore I created this mind map that can be used as a placemat or classroom wall poster. It encouraged students to look at the writer's intention more, rather than just writing "this has a positive effect".
I will be using with AQA Power and Conflict poetry GCSE, however it is flexible.

AQA English Language GCSE summary of questions handout
My Y11 middle ability were becoming confused by which questions were on each paper. I made them a summary for them to put in their folders and refer back to. I am aware that there is more information that could potentially go on here, however I wanted it to be concise as it meets the needs of my students in this case.
