This PowerPoint will allow you to deliver the GCSE 9-1 Chemistry Core Practical in which copper sulphate salt is prepared from copper oxide and sulphuric acid. It includes an easy-to-follow method to share with students, plus a brief look at how this method could be applied to a six-mark question. The resources are easy to follow for teachers, readily accessible for students and are appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and High-tier. This PowerPoint allows two lessons to be taught in which students observe several separation techniques, answer (and mark) in-depth analysis questions, then use the same techniques to process rock salt and produce a purer form of table salt. The format of the lesson is designed to begin embedding core practical analysis skills at an early age. This lesson is best taught at the end of the Year 7 Mixtures and Separations topic.
