A seasonal-themed resource aimed to improve children’s knowledge of sentence structure. This lesson will reinforce the language needed in the Year 2 curriculum (noun, verb, adverb, adjective and conjunction) and allow opportunities it to develop their own sentences. By focusing on one or two sentences, children can develop the language needed to talk about their word choice.

A seasonal themed reading comprehension linked to the year 2 National Curriculum objectives. Questions direct children to practise inference, deduction, skimming and scanning skills as well as links to different word types. Can be completed individually or as a Christmas Quiz in partners. This resources has been differentiated three ways.

A different take on spellings where repetition and teacher assessment is at the forefront. Each week, children are introduced to 4 new spellings and are given 4 spellings from the previous week. This allows children two weeks to practise each word so that they can build a solid memory of each word when using them in their writing. This pack contains spelling lists, test sheets and home learning with words that match up to the common exception list in the new national curriculum.
