I am an experienced English teacher of both Literature and Language, and also Classical Studies at High School level. You will find text-based resources for novels, poetry, plays and film study in my shop for Years 7 - 13. The resources are generic to the text so are suitable for any curriculum. I am also a passionate believer in effective literacy learning hence the emphasis on phonics resources in my shop.

Using Old Major’s song ‘Beasts of England’, students are to select specific literary or language techniques to show how Old Major convinces the animals that Animalism is a worthy cause. This comes with a an exemplar or model answer with grade boundaries for New Zealand NCEA Level 1 levels, A, M and E. Students can see the cumulative effect of techniques on the animals / reader. A borderline Non-Achieved / Achieved Pan essay on character development. I have found this resource to be useful in illustrating the difference between a plot-driven essay. Students are able to edit the document and provide relevant analysis. Editable document showing how to integrate analytical comments into an essay. Again, this is useful for students who tend to ‘tell the story’. The scene analysed is Ofelia and the Toad. Resources designed for NCEA Level 3, NZ Curriculum, but can be adapted to any film analysis of Pan’s Labyrinth.
