Ideal for English GCSE or Functional Skills. This is a Power Point with four catchphrase boards. Each board has the answer slide covered by nine squares. The learners choose a square and answer the question to remove the square, revealing part of the answer slide. The winner is the learner who guesses the catchphrase on the answer slide. It is an enjoyable and fun game for a class. This game cannot be played during a slide show. *Please remember not to 'save changes' when you have moved all the squares.

This resource consists of a front cover, a worksheet and an answer sheet. Ideal for engaging learners with new language and spoken language for GCSE English Language or Functional Skills English. The worksheet involves the learners completing a table of 21 new words, providing definitions and deciding if each word is formal or informal. This resource can then lead on to an informal writing task. The learners are asked if they would use each word online, with friends or in a formal environment and this resource promotes lots of discussion. It could be used as preparation for a speaking and listening activity on neologisms. The new words included could allow for a discussion on internet safety.

This resource aims to engage learners who have difficulty in spelling or a barrier to learning during English lessons due to spelling. The Power Point is 15 slides and includes a starter and exit task. This resource looks briefly at the history of the English language in simplistic terms to give learners an understanding of why spelling is difficult today.
