The 2023 Government Reading Framework advocates a strategic approach to nurturing a reading habit rather than relying on an eclectic mix of activities. This booklet aims to provide practical ideas on how to develop a strategic approach to motivate pupils to read, including developing a R4P pedagogy, giving staff time to develop their knowledge of texts, providing space and time to read and chat about books, providing access to diverse texts,monitoring attitudes and behaviours during R4P time and building reading communities.
