Students look at the picture and then draw a line from the beginning of the word to the picture and then to the ending blend to spell the word. See the first example on the worksheet.
• Making Words with Ending Blends (3 worksheets)
Students can choose any of the final consonant blends to complete the words below the boxes. Once they have made word, the students draw a picture to go with the word because two words can be made with be__ , i.e. best or bend. Both are correct as they are real words.
• Colouring activity – Which Word? (3 worksheets)
Students sound out the word that goes with the picture in the centre and then colour the correct word that goes with the picture.
As an extension activity, on a separate sheet, students can write a sentence with the words that are not coloured in.
• Differentiated Cut and paste activities (4 worksheets)
The first set of worksheets do not contain pictures.
Students cut out the ending blends and match it to the correct starting letters to make a word.
When they have made a word, they write out the word neatly on the handwriting lines.
Some of your students may need pictures to help them join the ending blends to the letters to make a word. For each word the students make, they can sound out the letters.

The worksheets reinforces the use of the adverbs.
Worksheet 1: Adverbs of Place Cloze Activity. Students choose a suitable adverb to complete the eight sentences. The adverb that was not used to complete the sentences, the students write their own sentence with that left over adverb in the space provided.
Worksheet 2: Adverbs of Place Sentence Sort Worksheet (with Answer Sheet)
Students sort out the jumbled words so that the sentence make sense placing the adverb at the end of the sentence.
Worksheet 3 – Adding -where or -ward at the end of adverbs of place.
Students will see a list of beginning words of adverbs. They should complete each word writing either ‘where’ or ‘ward’ at the end. E.g. if the beginning word is no ____, the student completes the word with ‘where’ to make nowhere. There is a total of 9 words to complete.
Once Task A is done, students complete Task B – write 3 sentences with the adverbs ending in -where and 3 sentences ending in -ward.
Worksheet 4 – Read and Answer Worksheet (with Answer Sheet).
You could pair up students for this activity. First, they read each sentence. Then they answer the question Where? and write down the adverb of place.
Word Search (with Solution) – Students find the words listed that go across and down.
Suggested use with flashcards to increase vocabulary.
Shuffle a selection of cards - ask a student to pick one. Whichever card is picked, show to the whole class or a small group of students to make up a sentence with that adverb of place.

Letters and Sounds: Phase 3 Consonant Digraphs
This is a phonics resource on consonant digraphs. It is an ideal addition to my other resources on consonant digraphs.
It is aimed at Keystage 1 and more able Foundation children, SEND and ESL students.
The strips are differentiated and gives students the opportunity to read, write and practise digraphs using the visual images as prompts.
**Consonant digraphs: sh, ch, th, ng, ck, ph and wh. **
The pack contains:
Plain strips - Student look at the picture and practise writing the word - There are 4 different words containing the same digraph.
E.g. shoes, shell, fish, dish.
Trace over dots - again 4 different words for the same digraph
Jumbled words strips - unscramble the word by looking at the picture and writing the word.
Jumbled words strips (with highlighted digraph) - The highlighted digraph means they stay together so it only remains for the student to unscramble the rest of the letters.

This is optional - North Carolina has already been identified on the map as one of the southern states that passed the Jim Crow laws soon after the Reconstruction period. Students find out which other southern states did the same then color or shade in the areas on the map.

Simpson and his donkey with factsheets and worksheets. This is a PowerPoint presentation on one of the most well-known ANZAC, John Simpson Kirkpatrick and his donkey.
It is a resource linked to ANZAC Day and bravery.

Worksheet 1 – Students write and draw 4 facts about Simpson. The less able students can write one sentence in each square.
The last part of the worksheet asks students to think about a question they would ask Simpson.
5 Reading Comprehension Factsheets
The story is divided into five sections. The texts are contained in text boxes to make it easier to read and extract information.
Background: Simpson, The Early Days, Simpson becomes an ANZAC, Simpson’s Bravery and Simpson’s Death: The Memory Lives On.
The comprehension sheets can be given out in any order. A teacher/assistant can work with a particular group that requires support.
The worksheets cover sentence work, word work, spelling errors and jumbled words, true/false questions, short description writing and gap filling.
Word Search for early finishers relating to the same topic.
The resources can be edited to tailor them to the needs of your ability groups.

There are 3 sets of pictures for each initial consonant blend. One set has highlighted initial blends.
Optional: Print out onto card paper/good quality paper, laminate and cut out the pictures and words.

3 Sets of initial consonant blend pictures with words (one set has highlighted initial blends)
64 black and white pictures relating to initial consonant blends
3 Worksheets - children trace over initial blends and then write in the correct blends to finish incomplete words.
2 Cut/paste worksheet activities - children trace over blends and then write in correct blends to finish incomplete words. Lastly, they cut out the pictures and glue to match the correct completed words.
Other Suggested Activities:
Pictures only - Mix up different pictures and ask students to find the picture that starts with, e.g. br.
Words only - Mix up different words and ask students to sound out the word and/or draw a picture for it. Extension - write sentences.
Pictures and words - Mix up different pictures and words for students to match up correctly.
Make a word wall using the initial highlighted words as a visual reminder.
With the black and white pictures, you can reduce on the copier or leave as is to glue into workbooks. Leave out some words for the children to find the correct word to match the picture in their workbooks. As an extension they can write a sentence using that word.

This single phonics pack focuses on initial consonant blend ‘gl’ CCVC words.
As with the other consonant blends packs:

Detailed Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan.
PowerPoint Presentation 1 (31 Slides)- includes explanation of initial blend, CCVC words and whole class activities to prepare children for their independent activities.
PowerPoint Presentation Phoneme Count ((12 Slides) - Again, as in the others, I have listed all the CCVC words and the units of sound above the fingers so that children can see and hear the separate phonemes (with pictures) - Referred to in the lesson plan.
Encourage children to make simple sentences with the words. Some meanings of words are shown through pictures and speech bubbles.
