Students count the number of animals. Write the total counted. Cross out whatever number the card states e.g. ‘Cross out 3’ Students then count how many animals are left and write the answer. You do not need to print off all the cards. If you wish to concentrate on subtraction within 5 with reception, then just print off the Alligator cards which are in colour and b/w. If you want your students to practise subtraction within 12, print off the cards with goats.
