This presentation is in recognition of the growing vaping trend and includes links to videos and uses reputable sources to inform the slide content (credits in the Notes and Further Reading). The lesson uses up to date sources and has just been updated to include findings from a study reported in The Guardian in April 2023.

This lesson is designed to either coincide with Organ Donation Week in September or fit in with your general LifeSkills/PSHE programme. It includes a presentation and teaching notes, which include a link to duplicate a survey on Forms to get students thinking about the topic and some of the issues which will arise. There are opportunities for discussion and to broaden awareness and blood and bone marrow donation are also mentioned. The penultimate slide includes plenary questions and the final slide links to further reading.
This is never going to be an easy topic, so I have taken a lot of advice from relevant charities supporting the day to make sure I get the language right. The Ppt is wholly adaptable to your time frame, and given the sensitive nature of the topic you can choose what you want to include. The theme is on thinking about the language used to discuss the topic to reduce stigma and create a safe environment for someone to open up.

This resource allows for discussion around the damage being perpetrated by hate crime on a basis of religion and allows for discussion of terms around the subject, awareness of the history of such persecution, the religious make-up of England and Wales and the opportunity to understand what can be done to make a change and the role of the law. There is a whole world out there to see, but travel is expensive, so this lesson looks at ways of seeing the world without breaking the bank, using skills and training young people might pick up on the way and alerts them to looking out for opportunities while students.
This would go well as a follow-up to a presentation on Gap Years or a talk from a colleague about their travel experiences.

As Remembrance Day approaches in November, this is a lesson to reflect on the origins of the day, to consider how it is commemorated and why and to think about the significance of the red poppy, purple poppy and white poppy. Throughout life everyone experiences grief at one time or another, but that doesn’t mean we are ready for it or know how to deal with it. This lesson allows students to talk about the causes of grief, the emotions it brings up and the variety of reactions people can go through. It also allows students to consider how they can support others and what to do if they are struggling themselves.

This lesson is part of our series on Women’s Health and is designed to raise awareness of a little-discussed topic, highlighting the importance of awareness for all. It looks at what symptoms are involved, the value of support and sources of help. It also introduces the idea of the impact on the workplace and the value of support there, bearing in mind that students will be going into workplaces in the future, managing teams and being part of the decision-making, so gives the opportunity to discuss menopause policy in the workplace.

This lesson is designed to help students to think about what deaf awareness means and to build understanding of the challenges around deafness. It could fit with Deaf Awareness Week in May or at any point in your PSHE/Lifeskills programme. There are various opportunities for discussion and some suggested video links to support the discussions.
This lesson looks at the issues surrounding women’s health, the importance of being able to talk about it and introduces some of the main conditions to consider. This assembly looks at the history of Mother’s Day, the religious and secular significance. It also recognises that not all families are the same and that the care givers may not be the mother, or that date may bring memories of a loved one who has died. The message is one of showing appreciation, on Mother’s Day and every day.
This presentation comes with a preliminary quiz on Forms to get students thinking (link to duplicate is in the teaching notes). The presentation includes discussion points so please go through in advance, as you may wish to adapt to your time frame. In addition to further reading , there is a printable exit ticket to ascertain understanding and what ideas have been taken away.
