Enjoy So the countdown to Christmas has begun but I’m a real grouch when it comes to getting all festive too early. The only concession I make is in my last lesson of every term I do a “pub” quiz. I even let the students choose who to have in their teams (I know!!) BUT there is one proviso: I always make it clear that I expect them to look around the room and make sure everyone is included … reminding them that its not a nice feeling when you aren’t asked to be in anyones team and it always makes me really proud when I see some of the students asking people to join their team. Maybe the fact that I add the threat of never, ever, ever letting them choose their own teams EVER again has something to do with it … who knows!?!?

This is a Halloween Special PowerPoint document that contains over 150 questions from past UKMT Junior Maths Challenges, along with solutions. I have also included a pdf document optimised for distributing as a handout (with the answers removed of course!) so the questions can be given out to the students to work on. Please enable macros and activeX controls for the PowerPoint to work as intended; using the buttons you can get a random question for your class to answer, and then discuss the solution. This game pack includes two snakes and ladders games. One focuses on multiplication, focusing on times tables up to 12. The other focuses on dividing numbers under 100 that give integers (none of the answers yield remainders/decimals). I’ve played this game with some of my tutees who are primary aged, and some secondary school students who struggle with these topics and it always seems to bring out their enthusiasm and competitive spirit. I’ve also included a blank snakes and ladders board for those who may want to modify it & increase/decrease the difficulty. It can also be modified to an addition / subtraction game & if your students feel like a challenge, why not put problems from all four areas within. Brilliant game based on classic who wants to be a millionaire. Has realistic sound effects as well as 50/50, ask the audience and phone a friend. Adapted for students sitting GCSE Maths (Higher), Edexcel & AQA. Multiple choice. The questions get more challenging as the students near the one million pound question. Full instructions are provided within the document. I’ve also included a couple of screenshots to give you a feel of how it is in action. Makes a great supply lesson, whole lesson, levelled task or whole class activity. A bargain at £1. All funds made from the sale of this product will be donated to the NSPCC. I’ve created some mind maps to help students revise the 4 main areas in maths: Algebra, Number, Shape & Data. Simple language has been used to make them accessible to all students. I also included corresponding checklists for students to use to help them with their revision. A smiley face denotes the student has mastered & is confident in the topic, straight- could do with some revision, and unhappy- this topic needs attention. These are in word doc format so feel free to edit/add/subtract to them. I’ve used this to help plan revision lessons and get an idea of what the group finds difficult and this has worked well. A GCSE Powerpoint presentation on circle theorems. It covers all of the rules and contains over 200 questions on the topic with answers and worked solutions. I created this resource as there was nothing available as comprehensive and encompassing on one place as this. I publish this under the creative commons licence, and am thankful for the teachers who contributed. I have also attached one of the original workbooks. This can be distributed to students as homework (don’t forget to remove the answers at the back).
