Land on a green diamond and translate the corresponding sentence from French to English and win a diamond (these are needed in minecraft to build with) Land on the horse double your next throw (the horse gives you speed) Land on the pig (gives you energy so go forwards two) Land on Creeper go back 4 Land on a chicken -the partner gives a short sentence in English and if the player who landed on the chicken can translate it in writing accurately into French then they win two diamonds (in Minecraft the chicken gives you feathers to write with) Land on the Ender dragon and lose all diamonds and your horse speed if you have it. Everytime you pass and land on start then win 4 diamonds At the end of the time given to the game the person with the most diamonds is the winner.

A combination of a tangled translation and a pyramid translation task on part-time jobs covering the present and past tense. Supports students to learn words that are less well known whilst reinforcing key structures. No chance for them to snooze on this task! Great to check understanding or as a retrieval/do now activity

Two activities to support students to talk about what they watch on TV and why. I used this with a mixed ability class of higher and foundation students.

This retrieval/do now starter is based on vocabulary linked to describing a region and can be done after studying the topic. Ideal for GCSE and or KS3 it includes: a photo task, finding synonyms, spelling check and an adjective task.

I made these planning sheets to try and encourage students to answer the bullet points at foundation tier with more spontaneity and to try and prevent students being reliant on full sentences (not allowed to be written on the CN2 form). My students have found these really useful as the pointers in English have helped them to answer the questions quicker, to say more and to be more accurate. I hope that you all find them useful too.

A wordsearch to revise. This includes the top 30 most common words that appear in answers on the French Edexcel listening and reading papers from 2018-2021. Students need to translate the words into French and then find the French word in the puzzle.
