I have had this resource displayed in my classroom since my NQT year. It’s at the children’s height and the children can check in how they feel every morning and afternoon registration. The widgets themselves are usually moved around the appropriate zone to help them. The children love accessing it and usually write on the emotion zone areas their own suggestions on how to deal with those types of emotions.

100 Square Morning Starter resource

100 Square Morning Starter resource

I use this as a daily morning starter to support my students either in Year 1 as a way to stretch them or in Year 2 as a way to support and gather evidence that the children can count up to 100 independently. This morning starter is differentiated and adapted 8 different ways so should be supportive in adapting to all of your students whether working below, working at or if you need to challenge them further. This word document resource will fit on a A4 page and will fit easily into most maths work books. Not revolutionary but it will save you at least ten minutes in creating, re-sizing, configuring print settings etc.

I have used this resource with my year 2 group of Expected/Working At and Greater Depth/Working Above readers to introduce them to reading chapter books. The children have really enjoyed the tasks. The children call this their ‘selfie questions’ as they answer them independently after reading in pairs. This resource contains planning for the entire book. Each session is based on 5 pages from the book. The questions cover a range of different types including retrieval, inference, prediction and clarification and each ‘selfie’ sheet has an extension task. This resource pack also includes my introduction lesson where the children use their prediction skills to explain what they thought the story would include and the summary lesson after completing the book to create their own book review. This is a resource which could also be used with Year 3 readers as well.

5 senses based adjective mat

This resource is one that I use often on my tables to encourage and build vocabulary in the children’s independent writing. This resource contains 8 different word mats which focus on building language and vocabulary skills based on the 5 different senses. It does not just focus on the senses as a whole but also focuses on how we can further describe them, for example separate mats for unpleasant and pleasant smells. These mats are both KS1 and KS2 friendly. They also use visuals to help reinforce which sense is being described.

This is a fun History assembly for year 2. It has 1 catchy song and a fun poem. It covers the events during the great fire of london, how it started, why the fire burned, fire fighting methods and how London changed afterwards . There are so many opportunities for fun acting and miming in this script too depending on the ability of your class. Hopefully it saves you some time for planning your own assemblies.
