This is an information PPT for students, designed to prepare them for the AQA GCSE listening and reading exams, although I’m sure it’ll work with the Edexcel papers too. The PPT includes some tips, ‘pesky words’, synonyms, etc.

This PPT introduces pupils to 8 different famous French people in history. Each person has a short text to describe them and pupils work together to translate each text. Pupils then use the attached cards to match the pictures to their descriptions. The attached worksheet is designed for pupils to write short paragraphs in French about the people studied. A quiz PPT has now been added for post-lesson revision.

This PPT introduces the topic of ideal holidays, using 'je voudrais' and 'j'aimerais'. Introduce the vocab section by section. Each image appears with the relevant part of the sentence, also highlighting how to build the sentences. Pupils then match up what they have learned to the English. There is a translation activity after this and then a game of the famous 'Donate or Steal' at the end. Instructions are in the notes section of the PPT.

Use this PPT to introduce the topic of school rules.

This is a whole lesson on different genres of music and how to give your opinion about the different genres. You will need access to the internet and speakers, as there is music for them to listen to in silence at the start and 3 different French singers/groups on YouTube (Louise Attaque, MC Solaar & Lilian Renaud). The accompanying worksheet is there to help pupils throughout the lesson.

Use this PPT to teach pupils how adjectives work in French. It includes regular and irregular endings, along with common adjectives that never change.

Use the template to get pupils to guess the blanked out word in the headline. You could also use this HIGNFY template to do ‘reading images’. Pupils discuss what’s in the picture and give it a headline. Simply insert a photo of your choice in the top of the slide! You could use it to give pupils options of headlines or give them a headline and they have to choose the appropriate image.

Use this PPT to introduce the students to the facts about the French language. On the following slides, students identify the slowly-revealed flags from either general knowledge or even football knowledge!

Introduce the well-known poem ‘L’Automne’ using the PPT and use the worksheet alongside it. The poem goes through the poem, using the words and images for certain parts of the poem to aid understanding. Pupils do gap-fill on the worksheet whilst listening and watching the presentation. By the end of the detailed presentation, pupils will be able to write their own version of the poem in French, using support.

Teach pupils how to use the modal verbs in French - pouvoir, devoir and vouloir. The presentation shows the conjugated verbs to start with and then asks pupils to test their memory by asking them to match the correct verb to the pronoun. Then, they must remember how to spell the verbs. At the end, they must translate the sentences from English into French.

Introduce school rules using this PPT. After introducing the rules, using 'il faut' and 'il est interdit de', students try to remember which of these to use for each rule.

On the topic of 'saying where it hurts', pupils select the 6 correct answers – focus is on the grammar (j'ai mal au genou, etc). They reveal either a tick or a cross when they click on their answer.

This Connect 4 game practises the simple future of both regular and irregular verbs in French. Pupils work in two teams (red and blue) and their objective is to get 4 (or 3, if you prefer) of their coloured rectangles in a row. This can be vertically, horizontally or diagonally. In presentation mode, click on the relevant coloured circle to change the colour of the rectangle.

Use this PPT to do a pre-prepared hangman starter. Simply add the letters you need to/delete blocks you don't need. Type the answer into the relevant box and it'll appear when clicked. All instructions are in the notes section of the PPT.

Use this to practise asking questions. In presentation mode, your answers will show in each square. Challenge pupils to work out what the question could be. I award one point for any relevant question they come up with and 2 points if they correctly guess the question I came up with. Simply clicking on the square with your answer reveals your question.

This PPT introduces the idea of using 'gern', 'lieber' and 'am liebsten' to talk about what you like doing in your free time. It also looks at the word order - pupils then put the words in order to make a phrase.

To begin with, pupils match the definition from Wikipedia to the appropriate sport on the screen. At the end of the presentation, there is a random score team game to practise the vocab.
