SENDCo SENCo SEN Special Education Support | Example Supporting Application Covering Letter 2

(0)
This resource is a second example application letter for the position of SENCo in a secondary school. This letter should be developed by including your own examples of where you have completed the points referenced and the impact of that work as well as your learning from the work you have completed. This letter is for guidance only and should not used exclusively to apply for a SENCo role but instead used to support the writing of your own letter. Letters should always be tailored to the school you are applying to and your own experiences. This template is 2 pages long. This resource is aimed a secondary school SENCo role, but could provide ideas for other stages of education also. Please note: covering letters should not exceed 2 pages in length. I never recommend sending blanket templates for prospective roles and always advise an application is tailored to you and the school.

Christmas Carol Plot Review Worksheet - Homework - Revision - Low Ability

This resource was designed as a homework task for a low ability Year 11 group to reflect and review their knowledge of the plot of a Christmas Carol. It was printed in A3 and then used alongside a summary of the novella from youtube. The task just promotes students to recall information about the plot and key ghost scenes, as well as to consider key scenes from the novella narrative. Follow me: facebook.com/teachcoach

How Students Learn and Revise - CPD - Professional Development - RQT NQT - Experienced Teachers

This resource aims to develop teacher understanding on how to support best learning and revision. It is not specific to exams, but covers ‘learning effectively’ which applies to both exam preparation as well as learning in general in lessons time. The resource covers: how the brain works and how the brain learns, including the science behind learning a new skill how to build new knowledge pathways in the brain interleaved learning spaced learning concept mapping/retrieval practice failure as a learning tool collaborative retrieval as a learning tool This session also includes: 3 videos (not owned by me - included to develop knowledge) a ‘starter’ and a ‘plenary’ for use in the CPD a midpoint learning check an activity for department to spend time thinking about their practice You can also find a PDF of ‘revision strategies’ attached as a follow up for staff. This is a great activity for teachers of all experience but would be especially good for RQTs or NQTs who may just be starting to think about how students learn. This could also be good for form tutors of Y11 and Y10 to think about in preparation for exams. Please make sure you follow me on facebook: facebook.com/teachcoach

Technology Mobile Phone Awareness - Unplugging Assembly - Head of Year

(0)
This resource is an assembly focused on ‘unplugging’. It was created for National Unplugging Day but could be used for any time you are concerned about the use of technology in your year groups. At the end of the assembly, students are asked to volunteer their phones for a set amount of time. I chose until the end of the school day. Students were given a plastic sandwich bag and label and their wrote their name on the bag, alongside sealing the bag with a knot. On the way out of the assembly, students hand their phone in - placing them in a box. This box is then safely stored in a locked office or safe. Students were then able to collect their phones at the end of the day. For participating, students got a reward of a text home and positive reward points. I tried this assembly twice with my year group and each time got over 60% participation. Students were always exceptionally reflective and were often surprised by how uncomfortable they felt without their phones. This is a great way to get students reflecting on their reliance on technology and their potential overuse of phones and other electronics. Please ALWAYS be responsible with student belongings - students handing phones in should be treated with respect and stored securely at all times. Please leave a review if find the assembly use and consider following my page: www.facebook.com/teachcoach

Head of English - Curriculum Lead - In Tray - Interview Preparation Task - Curriculum Design
TheTeachingCoachTheTeachingCoach

Head of English - Curriculum Lead - In Tray - Interview Preparation Task - Curriculum Design

(0)
In this resource, you will find a task designed to help you prepare for an English head of department interview. Specifically, this is a task using a fictionalised curriculum model. You are asked to explain how you would improve the model taking into account a 5 year curriculum. The task also asks you to consider curriculum intent and pupil entitlement to run alongside it. During an interview, you may be asked to complete an in tray of this nature, but you may also be asked to explain your thoughts and theories on curriculum intention and implementation - so this practice model/task is a great way to think about the changes you’d make to a curriculum you have never seen Please make sure you follow me on facebook: facebook.com/teachcoach
