Lighten up your students with this set of 33 jigsaw puzzles which has the advantage of combining learning with the enjoyment of playing.
The puzzles are suitable to be used as part of the lessons, during class activities, for revision or as a stand-alone activity. Pupils can work on them individually, in pairs or in mixed-ability groups.
All you need to do is to print off the puzzles (as many copies as you need), laminate them for durability, cut them out carefully to ensure close matching and finally, put the pieces in envelopes. Each jigsaw puzzle is numbered-coded for organisational convenience. Please be aware that all image puzzles are graphic heavy and will require a colour printer and lots of ink!

‘Remembrance Day Lest we Forget’ is a well-structured lesson which aims to help students to engage in a meaningful way with this event and to understand the meaning and significance of Remembrance Day. This resource is also the third lesson of the unit ‘Exploring Autumn and Winter Festivals’ (unit plan can be found here) and it is designed to last 1-2 periods.
The resource contains a PowerPoint to give structure to the lesson, a flip chart with engaging activities for students and worksheets. There is a mixture of stimulating and attractive activities which ensure high-quality learning experiences for all students: give me 3, watching video-clips, reflective questions, KUI activity etc. There are many opportunities for class discussions to encourage young people to present their own opinions and respect the views of others. All activities are clearly linked to success criteria.
All activities proved to be very successful in helping pupils consolidate their knowledge and understanding of Remembrance Day. I have included a sample of pupils’ feedback which was very positive.

‘Exploring the Holocaust Project’ is an ideal activity to be used at the end of the unit 'Exploring the Holocaust’. It is designed to be used over a number of weeks and it is flexible in that you can choose how much time to spend on each section.
Aim of this research:
Teaching Holocaust history demands a high level of sensitivity and awareness of the complexity of the subject matter. It is hoped that this research project will provide your students with a clearer understanding of the Holocaust as a story for all of humanity and will encourage them to think critically about important issues and values not only within the historical context of the Holocaust, but also in contemporary society.
‘Exploring the Holocaust Part 1 – Beginning to Investigate’ is the first in a series of resources which assists teachers and students to research various ways in which different people reacted to the Nazi regime and produce a report which fully investigates the chosen topic.
In Part 1, students identify the five topics they can choose from, and they are given guidelines on how to write the report and to gather basic information about their topic.

In America, Thanksgiving is one of the most important days of the year. This is when people give thanks to God for food and all of the good things they have in their lives.
‘Thanksgiving Day Sampler’ is a well-structured lesson which aims to help students to engage in a meaningful way with this festival through a mixture of attractive activities which ensure high-quality learning experiences for all students: give me 3, Think-Pair-Share, watching a video clip, 3-3-1 activity, class discussions and designing a Thanksgiving Card. All activities are clearly linked to success criteria. I have included a few pictures of completed work from my students.
