AS German Familienbeziehungen (Family)

I made this lesson for a Year 11 taster session in the summer term. I wanted to pick something they were familiar with, so chose the topic of "family" but used resources from Zeitgeist rather than Nelson Thornes 1) because I think Z is easier and 2) because we use NT in Year 12 so didn't want them repeating the same work later. It comes with a PowerPoint, handouts and a vocab sheet. You can make this last 2 hours if you include the extra grammar activity. This can, of course, also be used with actual Y12s!
How to use PEE in Cirque du Freak

How to use PEE in Cirque du Freak

(0)
A worksheet (and answer sheet) to show how to use PEE when writing about Darren Shan's Cirque du Freak. These sheets concentrate specifically on the introduction and how to answer the question "Is the introduction to CDF a successful story opening?" I made this sheet in response to the first attempts to answer the question which didn't go to well! Second attempts were much improved!

GCSE German Grammar/ Preparation for AS Level

This is the Smart Notebook document to be used alongside my grammar booklet. Both resources can be used on their own or together. The benefit of having the Notebook version is that answers can be revealed to the whole class. This resource covers basic grammar for GCSE Level with simple explanations, exercises and solutions. None topic specific, simple vocabulary is used so that the focus stays on grammar and exercises can be slotted in at any time, regardless of topic being studied. This can also be used in the orientation phase of Year 12 and selected parts are appropriate for good KS3 classes. 20 different grammar points are covered over 72 pages. Please see below. Contents • Personal Pronouns • The Present Tense of Regular Verbs • Irregular Verbs in the Present Tense • Haben and Sein • Separable Verbs • The Perfect Tense with Haben • The Perfect Tense with Sein • The Perfect Tense with Haben and Sein • The Future Tense • Modal Verbs • Word Order (Simple) • Word Order (Complex) • Word Order (Time, Manner, Place ) • Prepositions with the Dative Case • Prepositions with the Accusative Case • Dual Case Prepositions • Plurals • Relative Clauses • Questions • Comparatives and Superlatives

A Level German Speaking Test Practice

This resource is based on speaking card G from AQA’s specimen speaking tests. I have transcribed the questions the examiner asks and left spaces underneath for students to write their own answers. After this, I plan to let the listen to the actual recording to see how they did in comparison to the candidate and get them to correct any mistakes in the transcript.

Spanish Cover Lesson Loosely based on Viva 1 pp 104 + 105 "What is there in your city?" ¿Qué hay en

A very self-explanatory worksheet useful for cover lessons in Spanish. It is loosely based on pages 104 and 105 of Viva 1, second edition on the topic of “What is there in your city?” ¿Qué hay en tu ciudad? Answers can be completed in exercise books or on lined paper (to make them last longer!). There are some exercises which use words and phrases not in Viva, but they are easily guessable, or pupils can use a dictionary. Answers and translations are also provided for non-specialist cover teachers.

End of term French cultural activity. Eiffel Tower pop up card with facts.

(0)
Instructions and resources for making a card with a pop up Eiffel Tower inside and some interesting facts about the tower. Great for end of term or other French cultural lessons. Would suite primary, Year 7 and even my Year 8s still like it. I've written detailed instructions on how to do it. Even my bottom set managed, but if you're struggling, let me know and I'll send you a picture of a finished one!
German Pronunciation Lesson

German Pronunciation Lesson

(0)
This is a resource that I originally made to help my Year 11 with their pronunciation for one of their upcoming speaking assessments. It features many of the main commonly mispronounced sounds, with various example words. It the builds up to a slide with a mixture of words and sounds, culminating in some really long words, just for fun! As a bonus, I have left in the last activity which was to help my class memorise a paragraph, something which, obviously, we are moving away from again, but still might be useful (it seemed a shame to delete it anyway!)
Overcoming the Monster Year 7 English (Stormbreaker extract)
Vicky79Vicky79

Overcoming the Monster Year 7 English (Stormbreaker extract)

(0)
This is a lesson I made as part of the "Overcoming the Monster" topic where students had to eventually write their own monster story. It focusses on how to write an epic battle/final showdown section and also on the more general theme of how to use language to improve writing i.e. using powerful verbs, adjectives, similes, metaphors etc. I have based it on a section near the end of "Stormbreaker" when Alex battles the jelly fish. The resource includes a PP and the extract from the book which you/pupils can read out or you can use the audio book which are available on YouTube.
Halloween Activity French Skeleton Song

Halloween Activity French Skeleton Song

(0)
This is a lesson based on the French Halloween Song "La chanson des squelettes" on Youtube. It comes with PowerPoint and 3 different worksheets, gradually getting more challenging. I have used this with Year 7 mixed ability, but would be good for any KS3 classes. It also fits in quite well with the topics of daily routine and time and also the grammar point of present tense (3rd person plural) - it's good to illustrate the pronunciation (or lack of!) of verbs ending in -ent.
German Trip (Rhineland) Past Tense Writing Frame

German Trip (Rhineland) Past Tense Writing Frame

(0)
This is a document I used to help students write about our recent trip to the Rhineland, although it could be adapted for other areas. It could either be used while on the trip to help students write a diary entry each evening, or after the trip. I get them to choose one of the days which they then write up on a post card to send home.
Beginners German Lesson 1 Numbers and Greetings

Beginners German Lesson 1 Numbers and Greetings

(1)
This is the first in a series of lessons which I wrote for a skills (rather than topics) based scheme of work. It covers basic greetings and numbers up to 10 but the main focus is on setting up the class with the skills to work out things for themselves. The focus for this lesson is pronunciation. These lessons can be used alongside Echo/Echo Express 1. (They would probably also go with any beginners course). The lessons were originally written for set 1/2 year 8 beginners but could be adapted for year 7 mixed ability learners.
