This scheme of work was written for a KS3 Drama group. It explores drama in the media through an understanding of soap opera.
The scheme of work contains five lessons. Each lesson has suggested activities with extended activities, lesson objectives, learning outcomes, suggested open and closed questions, homework tasks and links to appropriate resources.
This unit of work consists of six hour long workshops. Each workshop has an objective, and suggested activities. Some of the objectives include:
To consider how different interpretations of role can alter the dramatic impact on audience

This student resource is written for students so they can gain a practical understanding of what "Limited", "Adequate", "Competent", "Secure and Sustained" and "Accomplished" means for Edexcel GCSE Drama (2016) Component 1 AO2 criteria.
This rehearsed improvisation lesson plan contains learning objectives, lesson outcomes, suggested activities and homework.
There is a power point that accompanies the lesson plan as well as resources that support delivery.
This drama unit of work is based on character's in a family tree. It has been written for a KS3 Drama group, but could also be used for a devising unit. The unit of work contains lesson objectives, lesson outcomes, suggested activities, suggested open and closed questions and homework.
There is a workbook to accompany the unit of work, as well as four power points.
This lesson plan, power point and resources were created to support the delivery of component 3 section B from the new Edexcel Drama syllabus. It can, however, be used to teach a live performance review from any syllabus.
The focus areas within the lesson are costume, set, lighting, space and levels. These areas are looked at individually working towards the completion of a live performance review.
This lesson plan includes suggested activities, suggested questions, learning objectives and outcomes.
The power point supports the lesson plan but for copyright reasons you will need to insert appropriate live performance still images. This means you could use images from the same performance to complete a live performance review, or from different performances to introduce the topic. Through introducing your own images you will be able to use the resources several times.
The concept of the lesson is that someone has stole a Birthday cake, and students have to investigate this crime by gathering clues which will then be used to create a piece of drama. It can be used for both KS3 and KS4 classes.
This lesson involves completing a market place activity where students will collect information from three stations and then complete drama tasks. There is a team sheet outlining what students need to do, extension tasks at each station and a team work evaluation sheet where students can identify what good team building skills they have used. All information for each station is also included.
The lesson plan includes learning objectives, learning outcomes, suggested activities, personal learning and thinking skills, extension tasks, suggested open and closed questions and cross-curricular links to English and PSHE.
There are five cover lessons included here which are all based on the play "Blood Brothers." These can also be used as one off lessons. Ideally, all of these lessons would benefit from students being able to use the scripts, but this is not essential. The lessons include:

This bell activity booklet contains 9 drama word searches presented in a booklet form. There is also an answer booklet showing where all of the answers are for each word search. Topics include costume, lighting, set, explorative strategies, voice, movement, genre, elements and mediums.

This is a six week scheme of work where each week contains three one hour lessons. The structure of the scheme of work is:

There is an accompanying power point for the scheme of work. There are some pictures you will need to source yourself as for copyright reasons I am unable to include. These are a picture of the play front cover, a picture of Malala Yousafzai and a picture of women’s dress in 1896. There are also resources included that are referenced in the scheme.
This resource gives purpose to the evaluation of drama performances. There is a "Judge"role, an "Interpretation Analyst" role, "Objective Enquirer" role and a "Facilitator"role card.
Each role card contains questions that will enable focused and detailed performance analysis.
The cards can be used by groups or individuals.
There are five KS3 drama cover lessons, as well as a word search that can be used as a bell activity in any drama lesson.
The Street Drama cover involves students creating characters based on the residents in three houses. The students will be able to explore community living through drama.
The Soap Opera cover involves students creating their own soap opera.
The First Line, Setting and Plot Point cover gives students selected information that they use as a starting point to create pieces of drama.
The Old Man and His Grandson by Brothers Grimm cover looks at the discrimination faced by the Grandad and focuses on what the message is.
The Fairy Tale cover looks at creating a different ending to a familiar fairy tale.
The concept of this devising assessment is that students analyse four pieces of art and create four pieces of original drama based on the art work. The final performance will be set in an art gallery where students bring the art to life and can stage the performance to include the audience. You can also add in an art gallery worker to escort the audience around the gallery.
There are four lessons included in the power point to create the work, but students will then rehearse this towards an assessment.
There is a work book to enable students to keep a log book of the decisions that they have made.
There are also cards which have key vocal and physical terms on which can be used in any drama lesson to encourage students to include these words during evaluations.
For copyright reasons, I am unable to include the four pictures, but the questions will fit any piece of art meaning you would be able to just insert the pictures into the power point and work book.
This devising unit of work asks the question whether it is socially and morally right to discriminate, and it encourages students to explore this topic and create original pieces of drama to answer the question.
There are two workshops where racial discrimination is explored through the Rosa Parks story, two workshops where age discrimination is explored through "The Old Man and His grandson" by the Brothers Grimm, and two workshops where gender discrimination is explored through the suffragette movement.
There is a unit of work, and a power point that accompanies this.
When purchased, you would need to source your own suffragette pictures, and Rosa Parks information due to uncertainty of including them in this for copyright reasons, but the Brothers Grimm story is included.
This stimuli devising project includes a power point and a student workbook. It can be used for any devising project, and can be used at both KS3 and KS4.
The power point contains lessons where students look at four different stimuli (WB Yeats' He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven, the start of Oscar Wilde's The Selfish Giant, Work Place Discrimination and the story of Malala Yousafzai). Students will then compare and contrast these resources to create an original piece of drama. The above content will be delivered over three lessons.
Students will then look at picture stimuli and will compare and contrast two pictures leading to an original performance. I am unable to include the pictures for copyright reasons.
The final part of the project will be where students respond to different forms of possible discriminations (Disability / Homophobia / Sexism / Race ). Although this is one lesson, it has potential to be adapted into an assessment that could last for longer.
There is a student workbook which enables students to keep portfolio evidence as they progress through their lessons.
This unit of work looks at the job role of the actor in terms of what qualities are required, which other roles they work with in the industry, and the final piece of work would be the creation of a power point to educate aspiring actors. Students will also research other roles within the acting industry.
This would ideally need to be delivered in an ICT room, but could be adapted for the classroom provided case studies of job roles could be provided.
There is a unit of work that contains learning objectives, learning outcomes, homework, suggested activities as well as suggested open and closed questions. The unit of work contains six lesson plans.
There is a project pack included which involves students exploring Theatre in Education, the purpose, the similarities and differences to theatre as well as the job roles within Theatre in Education. This forms a homework project that supports the unit of work.
Some of the resources are included, but actor case studies would need to be printed for one lesson. For copyright reasons I am unable to include these.
Two of the resources (Body Image and Derek Bentley) include a scheme of work with accompanying power points to support the delivery. One resource (Art Gallery) includes a power point with an accompanying student work book and voice and movement flashcards that can be used in any drama lesson. The Art gallery resource will require you to insert four pictures of your choice in order to create the art gallery. However, all activities within the resource can be used for any picture used.
This KS3 Drama lesson includes a lesson plan, power point, challenge cards, homework activity, bell activity and all resources. These resources also include badges that you can individualise putting students names into them. They can then be printed off as stickers.
Students will investigate a crime that has happened at a house by visiting three stations of clues. They will then create their piece of drama, and have evaluation cards like strategy detective, technique detective and target detective in order to focus the evaluations. There are challenge cards to challenge higher ability students within your group.
