I have been teaching for 6 years, originally training in Science and covering a wide range of subjects since. I have tried to provide schemes of work for each area - I know as an NQT and when a subject was new to me, this is what was missing on TES! I hope that these resources will help to kick-start your planning and make life that little bit easier.

HSC BTEC Level 3 Unit 10 Caring for children and young people

Unit briefs for Unit 10 along with a wide variety of supporting materials. The case studys used were based on a real case in Dorset, however, the names were altered and some details removed to make it suitable for the class yet still relevant and realistic. This module sparked incredible discussions with my class, and they all said that they appreciated the real life stories, as they are aware they may come across these cases in the future.

Find somebody who...

Quick and easy activity to get students interacting and learning more about one another. Each student has a sheet, and has to find somebody who matches a statement on their sheet. Encourage students to only take two answers from each classmate, so everyone gets to speak to one another.

Comfort Challenge Panic worksheet

Simple activity to get students talking, and understand a little more about what challenges individuals. Teacher reads a list of statements, and students decide how the statement would make them feel: Comfort - safe and comfortable, easy. Challenge - uncomfortable, uneasy, nervous. Panic - too scary, shut down, run away. Adaptations: Students could be encouraged to draw an object relating to the statement rather than writing complex statements. More able students could also add their own examples.
