A really easy to follow investigation growing cress seeds in different environments to see whether on not they need light to grow.
There are step by step instructions that can be ticked off as you go through them and room for results if you want to use the sheet as a worksheet.
A really easy activity to investigate factors that affect how far a ballon rocket will travel along a piece of string tied between 2 chairs.

A (not too) noisy way of investigating how sounds can change.
There are lots of different ways of changing noises. This experiment is really simple and will show how the pitch of a sound changes if we change how it travels.
Our easy experiments add some fun to your science lessons without lots of planning or equipment.
Each pack contains a practical sheet that can be laminated and used with your class, a link to our blog with an electronic version and a teacher tips sheet with handy tips, more background information, risk assessment and ideas for extending the activity.

A great investigation to practise instruction following and result recording.
Children have to make up different concentrations of sugar solution and time how long they take to run down a slope.
There is space to tick off instructions as you go through the activity and space to record results.
A really easy activity to show the link between doing exercise and increasing heart rate. There are step by step instructions that children can tick off as you go and space to record results.
A free printable worksheet for this really simple science experiment to show how surface area affects floating. Perfect for looking at materials, if you are doing stand alone working scientifically investigations or for something easy to keep up your sleeve when you need to kill 10 minutes!
THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE EXPERIMENT
The science behind the experiment is that as you give your animal bigger feet, you are increasing the surface area that the weight of the animal can be spread over and it can float upright.
When it has tiny feet, all the weight is on that very small area so it is too unstable and falls over.
TURN IT INTO AN INVESTIGATION
There are lots of ways to turn this experiment into an investigation:
Increase the size of the feet by a tiny amount each time, how big do they have to be for the dinosaur to start floating?
Does the shape of the animal affect how big the feet have to be? This is also a great opportunity to think about fair testing. It’s important that the same amount of paper is used even if it’s in a different shape.
Doing the experiment with different materials.
How does the size of the animal affect the size of feet needed?
