Culture in Nazi Germany

(5)
This is a history lesson for GCSE students based on the new Edexcel spec. It could also be modified for KS3. It covers sport, art and culture in Nazi Germany. I have a lesson available on Weimar culture as well. I envision this as a resource pack activity, but it could also be used as an information hunt. This resource may use elements of other teachers work or copyrighted materials. I thank them for any/all contributions. My resources are free because that is how teachers should work, support the teaching community rather than profit from it. If you decide to share this please do so freely.

This a lesson covering healers, treatments and causes of disease in the medieval era. It is intended as a lesson to plant some core knowledge in Year 7's prior to doing GCSE later. I has a range of activities and extension work. The cards should be cut out and stuck into the boxes on the back of the worksheet, two per box. My resources may use copyrighted material which I thank the owner for. My resources are shared for free for the benefit of the students. Please honour this.

This is part of a unit about explorers in the Tudor era and the early attempts at colonisation. This resource was made using some contributions from other teachers. I thank any/all contributors for their efforts. My resources are free because I feel that as teachers we should all work together.
Detente and the SALT treaties. GCSE Cold War and Superpower relations.
azreal1983azreal1983

Detente and the SALT treaties. GCSE Cold War and Superpower relations.

(9)
This lesson looks at the causes of detente, SALT 1, the Helsinki Accords and SALT 2. It would ideally be followed up by a second lesson on the subject as this lesson gives an overview of the big events, but does not cover the smaller parts such as the space mission. It should tackle the issue of treaties being dry by using the group activity. **If the preview is out of sequence it is a TES issue, the actual download will be fine.*** I thank any and all contributors to this resource and as I have shared this resource for free ask that anybody else does so too.

Elizabeth GCSE revision game show

(3)
Hi This is a simple game. Pick a category, answer the question and get that much prize money, if you get it right you pick the next category and value. I haven’t done true Jeopardy for any one familiar with the show, just questions and answers. It works really well with groups and buzzers. The slides are in colour and for some reason the preview doesn’t show them properly. It is all there though. I used somebody elses template from a medicine quiz and I thank them for making it as it saved me a lot of time. THe Q and A are all my own work. If you wish to share it please do, but please do so for free. Now with an instructions slide at the end.

For the domino plenary I get them to do it in pairs. First to finish gets a prize, mix them up, find a new partner and do it again faster. To differentiate the consequences print them on two colours. Give the simpler ones to low ability and both sets to middle and higher ability. I have made and shared this resource for free. If you take it and/or modify it please do so for free to.

The Spanish Armada sweet battle! GCSE Elizabethan England.
azreal1983azreal1983

The Spanish Armada sweet battle! GCSE Elizabethan England.

(1)
A lesson explaining the Spanish attempted invasion during the reign of Elizabeth I in 1588. This lesson is intended for GCSE History (Edexcel) on Early Elizabethan England. It could easily be adapted for other boards or key stages. It covers the battle in several stages and the students move sweets around a map (and eat them). I hope you enjoy it. I have animated the slides and made it as fun and engaging as possible. I have used a card sort given freely from another teacher who shared on a facebook group (I added a less able version) and the plenary is from Jivespin's website, they are made using Halftone in Ipad (a useful app, worth getting). I thank them for their efforts and ask that if you modify this resource, share it for free. Help the teaching community.

The Berlin Wall: Creation and Great Escapes. KS3 Cold War

(1)
A lesson for Year 9 that discusses life in Berlin, the Berlin Wall and some of the best escapes that were made during the Cold War. This lesson has an element using Elton John's Nikita, to help students consider life in a divided city. The main task involves reading about then planning your own escape from USSR held Berlin. It works best with some music from The Great Escape. At the end if you have time remaining, the end of the wall is discussed and there is a video to watch. I thank any/all contributors to this resource. I have created this resource to be shared freely, it is for the benefit of the students we care about. If you decided to share this too, please do so freely as well.

Improving 19th / Victorian Century Public Health. KS3 lesson or KS4 revision

(1)
Hi. This lesson looks at the changes to public health in the Industrial Revolution. It covers the work of Jenner, Pasteur, Nightingale, Chadwick and more. The lesson is differentiated for average through to top set and would just need more scaffolding for bottom set. If the preview is messed up, blame TES. The actual download will be fine.* It uses an information hunt and has a conclusion/judgement task included. I have spent a lot of time making this and choose to share it for free to benefit the students and other teachers. If you download this please also respect this by sharing it for free.
