I have been teaching Biology for 20 years and I have struggled to find concise and engaging resources for teaching Biology, which is why I have set about creating my own.
I hope that my resources are enjoyed by your pupils and of course support their learning of such an interesting and great subject.

Knowledge organisers have become increasingly popular with both students and teachers alike. Research shows that students find them a much more effective tool to condense their topic notes, in order to learn the content for assessments. Even better is that the notes are laid out on one page, rather than over several pages in a textbook or revision guide.
The knowledge organiser has two versions, a completed version/answer sheet and a worksheet version, which allows pupils to be more active in their learning and complete diagram labelling/sentences/tables etc.
The knowledge organiser covers all of the gas exchange topic (topic 11) on the CIE IGCSE course and features the following subtopics:
Lung structure and function
Gas exchange and the adaptations of the alveoli
The process of ventilation
The effect of exercise on breathing
Make sure you print out on A3 paper

A pack of two pupil-led activities designed to engage learners in the classroom whilst studying the topic of digestion.
Activity 1 - Card sort on the sequence of digestion.
You could either print this on paper and then cut/guillotine so that pupils could then order them in the correct sequence and glue into their classbook.
Or alternatively print onto card or laminate if on paper to create a resource that can be used again and again.
Activity 2 - Loop game on the topic of digestion.
The idea of this activity is that the pupils have to pay close attention to the question being read out as they may have the correct answer to the question. Pupils seem to really enjoy this activity and it not only helps their learning but is fun too. Either print on card or laminate if on paper to make a reusable resource for the classroom.
Both of these activities would be useful as a plenary at the end of the topic or as part of a revision lesson.
These activities are praised in observed lessons as the activity is pupil-led rather than teacher-led; especially of importance if being inspected :)
This pack contains two crosswords focusing on the plant and animal response topics. The content is primarily targeted at the OCR A Biology specification.
The crosswords are designed to enable students to become more familiar with key terminology and definitions.
Possible use of the crosswords could be as a baseline assessment at the start of the topic or as a plenary at the end of teaching the topics.
This is also a nice homework task for students to complete.
Answers to both crosswords are provided for the teacher.
