This is a set of three lesson plans to teach children about the fun Jewish holiday of Purim. It is suitable for ages 4-7. The plans are very detailed (9 pages plus resources). These lessons could be taught at any time of the year. Lesson 1 contains a brief overview of Judaism and Purim. Lesson 2 focuses on the story of brave Queen Esther. Lesson 3 teaches the children about how Jewish people celebrate Purim. Each lesson starts with a carpet session. The children then split into five groups for activities. These include drawing, storytelling, dressing up and crafts. Across the three lessons the children have the opportunity to do all of the activities. The plans could be combined into one lesson with the children only doing one or two activities. There are three differentiated levels of objectives. This is an assembly for Mother’s Day, with a focus on a Bible quote. There is a 4 page pdf plan and a 20 slide animated PowerPoint (non-editable- click ‘Read Only’ to open). In this assembly, children are encouraged to think about what they learn from their parents. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute!
