This is a 5 lesson French unit for beginners, perfect for using with KS2. It teaches children the vocabulary to describe their favourites, covering book genres, music genres, film genres, animals and toys. The plans (pdfs) all give details of a starter, how to teach the new vocabulary, followed by a combination of listening activities, speaking activities, reading/writing activities and a plenary. This is a bundle of comprehensions for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. They are aimed at Year 2. The bundle contains two sets of booklets. There is one set of comprehensions about the celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee which cover what a Platinum Jubilee is, how the Queen and others are celebrating, ways that children can get involved and green projects. The second set of comprehensions cover 70 years of British history and the history of the Queen’s reign. There is a section on each decade. There are three differentiated booklets for each topic. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘where,’ ‘who, ’ ‘which’ and ‘when’ questions and some multiple choice tick questions. Each activity contains a title page with useful words followed by four pages with short written extracts to read and 3-4 questions per page. The higher ability booklets have 14 questions and the middle and lower ability booklets each have 12 questions. Answers are also included. All of the PDF booklets are in the zip files. Lesson 2 - Regions of France - The children learn the vocabulary to describe different regions of France e.g. In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, there are mountains. The lesson teaches children sentences to describe seven different regions. Lesson 3 - French Speaking Countries - The children learn the vocabulary to describe the landscape in different French speaking countries e.g. In Guadeloupe there are beaches. The children are taught sentences to describe eight French speaking countries or regions. Lesson 4 - Paris - The children learn about tourist sites around Paris and how to describe in French places they would like to visit e.g I would like to visit the Eiffel Tower. There is also a bit of information in English about each of the eight places that are mentioned. Lesson 5 - French Festivals - The children learn about six festivals. There is the French word for each festival, a little bit of information in English and two more French phrases linked to the festival.
