This interactive PowerPoint quiz is perfect for using in the 2024 Australian CBCA Book Week. It contains 54 questions. The first 48 questions cover famous books from Australia and around the world. The theme this year is ‘Reading is Magic’ and so I have chosen books that have a magical element or are from the fantasy genre. These are followed by one question on each of the books in the CBCA 2024 short list for ages 7-12. You can use this as a starter, an assembly, a filler or a main activity. All questions are multiple choice and focus on popular modern books as well as classics. After you have chosen an answer for each question, click again and the correct answer changes colour. This is a 5 lesson French unit for beginners, perfect for using with KS2. It teaches children about France and French speaking regions. The lessons are: Lesson 1 - French Countryside - The children learn the vocabulary for places in the countryside in French e.g. lavender fields, rivers and mountains. Lesson 2 - Regions of France - The children learn the vocabulary to describe different regions of France e.g. In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, there are mountains. The lesson teaches children sentences to describe seven different regions. Lesson 3 - French Speaking Countries - The children learn the vocabulary to describe the landscape in different French speaking countries e.g. In Guadeloupe there are beaches. The children are taught sentences to describe eight French speaking countries or regions. Lesson 4 - Paris - The children learn about tourist sites around Paris and how to describe in French places they would like to visit e.g I would like to visit the Eiffel Tower. There is also a bit of information in English about each of the eight places that are mentioned. Lesson 5 - French Festivals - The children learn about six festivals. There is the French word for each festival, a little bit of information in English and two more French phrases linked to the festival. This is a lesson plan and resources for a beginner’s Italian lesson to use with KS2. It would be perfect to use as a fourth or fifth Italian lesson, after children have learnt to say hello and talk about how they are feeling. The focus in this lesson is how to ask someone where they live and reply. The plan gives details of a starter, how to teach the ‘countries’ vocabulary, a whole class listening activity, a speaking activity, writing activity and plenary. It is highly interactive and allows children to practice a range of language skills. All resources needed for the lesson are included in the price. They are in a zip file.
