These functional maths worksheets encourage pupils to use probability and work out gambling statistics using imaginary money. They can make and track real life bets and investments and see if they make money. Normally they don't and this can serve as a useful link to citizenship about the hazards of gambling Also included is a roulette sheet that links in some probability.

I used this as an assessment for my pupils when they reached the end of the topic on maps for their GCSE course. I downloaded two model towns off the internet one from iceland and one from paraguay (the website was called bogus places, can be found by searching for free paper models) and got the pupils to construct a 3d town and then asked them to use their knowledge of maps scales and bearings to produce a map of the town describe how to get to one of the places and produce scale drawings, when the project is finished it makes a really nice display

simple sheet that gets pupils to undertake research and compare prices of different holidays, it extends it by getting them to find information for the bus and train as well, may need adapting for different areas as it is currently based on northern airports and flight providers
