**Help your class to learn times tables with this fun, new approach with a Roman Empire theme. **
Challenge your kids s on the 3, 4 and 8 times tables as the invade territories to match the spread of the Roman Empire. With additional challenge cards that relate to events in Roman history, the kids will be sure to catch a buzz for this topic.
Also includes a map for the children to colour in, showing their understanding of how the Roman Empire spread across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
How to play
Take it in turns to draw a territory card. Correctly answer the multiplication in the time agreed and claim the territory on the map by finding the answer (the multiple). Place the counter next to the multiple. If incorrect, play moves on. Place the card on the discard pile.
If you correctly answer and a territory is already occupied, a battle is required! Flip a battle card so you can both see at the same time. The first to answer wins the battle and claims or keeps the territory. Place the battle card on the discard pile.
Some territories were particularly important to the Romans. They are marked with a banner . Occupying these will give a bonus point at the end of the game!
Special cards are shuffled into the pack of territory cards. These cards have special challenges based on historical events. Read them carefully and do what they say.
Once cards are all used from either pack, shuffle the cards in the discard pile and use them again.
Continue until time runs out. If all territories are claimed, players can choose a territory to attack using the battle cards.
At the end of the game, count up how many territories you own.
Each territory = 1 point
For every territory with a banner, add 1 extra point.
Remove or add any points from cards you may have gathered.
