This booklet contains eight questions that follow the format of the 90-word questions in the new French GCSE writing exam. They cover all aspects of Theme 3 (Current and future study and employment), and they can be used in lessons, but also as an easy way to set useful homework activities for the students. All questions include four bullet points that the students are prompted to cover, and they explicitly require them to include references to three time frames and opinions (as per the AQA mark scheme). When Pedro Sánchez became Prime Minister of Spain in June 2018 he was the first since Spain’s return to democracy who didn’t swear in in front of a Bible and a cross. This resource, based on an article from El País about the occasion , contains a series of reading activities (translation, find words that mean the same, true, false or nor mentioned and summary) to explore the role of the church in modern Spain.

This is a reduced, simplified and printing-budget friendly of this resource: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-gcse-grammar-booklet-cuaderno-de-gram-tica-11939611 The content of the booklets is very similar and they both provide a very detailed overview of the grammar needed for the new GCSE course, divided into three parts (Theme 1, Theme 2 and Theme 3). Each part has two sections, one devoted to verbs and the other one to other lexical categories. Both books contain a lot of examples and activities for the students. This version of the booklet takes into account that printing budget can be tight, so I have re formated the original, 62-page booklet, and taken out a few examples, so it is now 37 pages (the last three being verb tables that can be printed separately), but it still contains detailed explanations of a variety of grammatical structures, a lot of examples and a lot of activities. A very comprehensive set of sentences to translate from Spanish into English. The full resource is 29 pages long (including title and content pages) and it covers all three themes of the new Spanish GCSE course. Each theme and each topic is covered in detail with a series of sentences of different level of difficulty, and they provide a good coverage of all aspects of GCSE grammar, with references to a variety of tenses (present, preterite, imperfect, present perfect, conditional, future), and a wide range of complex structures (negatives, comparatives, conditional clauses…). While I believe that the resource can be used with students of all abilities, it is aimed mainly at foundation students. This is a resource to practise the use of the preterite tense to talk about holidays activities. It is ideal for the first lesson after the summer break for GCSE students. There are eight activities: verbs revision: find how to say in Spanish twelve verbs in the first person singular of the preterite tense. during the holidays: students read a series of sentences (all in the preterite and using the verbs from activity one) and decide how often they did them during the holidays. opinions: decide whether the opinions are positive, negative or neutral. write five sentences using the language from activities 1, 2 and 3. verb practice: change the verbs in activity one into the second person singular. questions: using the vebs in activity 5, write five questions for a partner about their holiday activities. speaking: interview a partner to find how often the partner did those activities during the holidays. extension: write five sentences about the partner’s holidays activities. Finally, the last page of the resource includes a reminder of how to conjugate the preterite tense.

Two lessons to prepare Key Stage 3 students to write about their favourite sport. Based on Harry Potter's quidditch, it focuses on opinions, comparisons and tenses, with a translation that the students then use as a template to write their own paragraphs. It also includes a link to a video in French of a quidditch match for those students not acquainted with Harry Potter. Update: I have now included a PowerPoint version of the main file, converted from the original Notebook file. I recommend whenever possible to use the original version, as the file conversion has changed the layout of some slides and some features work less effectively on Power Point.

This is a game designed to revise for the Spanish GCSE. It is meant to play as a class and if is based on snakes and ladders. Students will choose a counter and roll the dice, and they will have to do different things depending on where they land: If they land in a box where there is a phrase in English, they have to translate it into Spanish. If they land on a question mark, the teacher will ask them a question in Spanish (a set of sample questions is also included). If they land on an exclamation mark, the teacher will ask them to do an action (e.g. "Tócate la nariz"). Twenty-five sample actions are included. If they land on the stairs, they go up or down to the other end, and if they land on the lift, do the same. The winner will be the first counter on the finish line. The template of the game can be easily adapted to revise specific topics.
