Your students are asked to look at the picture, say the word then color in the correct ending sound that corresponds with the picture. Your students are given 3 choices of ending sounds to choose from underneath each picture. There are 20 different worksheets included in this pack. This activity asks your students to identify the ending sound they can hear, so for example with the picture of an apple, the correct sound they would hear would be “l”. This activity does not expect your students to use silent letters.
How to use this resource
As there are 20 different worksheets included in this resource you can easily use this activity with your entire class ensuring most of your students receive a different worksheet.
You can also use this ending sounds activity with smaller groups or as a Literacy center. You can laminate the worksheets or place them into dry erase pockets before use. When moving the slider up and down students should sound out the word trying each vowel digraph until they identify the correct long vowel. Students then write the correct long vowel in the empty box.
There are also worksheets where students can trace over the correct long vowel for additional support. As this long vowel activity is differentiated you are sure to find a variation of this resource to suit the needs of all your students.
