2018 Update.
These resources were originally based on a specific lesson observation, I have since included a massive amount of extras.
I have included a presentation file in BOTH Mac (Keynote) and Windows (Powerpoints) formats, this particular lesson was used in an observation highly sucessfully (outstanding) during my performance management 2 years ago.
UPDATE: I have re-uploaded the ‘mummification pictures’ in pdf format as well as the original microsoft word format due to review comments, photos are now viewable in several formats.
LO: Understand how writers portray character personality through writing.
This is a lesson based on exploring the techniques a writer uses to show a characters personality and requires pupils to use the evidence from the text extract I have included from the book 'The Hobbit' it is an excellent extract featuring the character 'Gollum.' The Powerpoint I have made goes through the process of...
S (speech)
A (actions)
D (description)
Children can then annotate their text accordingly and / or draw the character with annotations. Highly adaptable for many ages.
The 1970's version of the hobbit features a similar conversation on YouTube.
BONUS
I have included a snippet of the text from 'The Hobbit' an activity for children to highlight all the parts of the text that describe the hobbit / wizard and the house. They then draw a picture to match their highlights. The results can be compared to the artists impression I have included.
An ‘outstanding’ observation lesson plan with resources, Powerpoint, worksheets etc
There is also a lot of additional worksheets / Powerpoints included here too that would be useful for additional lessons and / homework.
Massive update to my highly popular resource…
Found these really hard to find so made my own resources up.
I am unsure why they are so scarce as they often come up in SAT tests etc.
As I like to call them 'missing box sums’
I have included differentiated worksheets and a smart notebook file to accompany the lesson worksheets.
Great for years 3/4 possibly lower ability year 5.
UPDATE: Feb 2018: due to the popularity of the previous version of this resource I have added a additional content similar in nature, for example, 'the role of the equals sign.'
At this age it is important that children understand (leading onto later years and algebra etc) that ‘Equals’ doesn’t mean ‘the answer’ but is a BALANCE of two equations.
There is a lesson plan included here as well I used for an observation during a Numeracy lesson on the topic.
A BUMPER pack to dip into for the teaching of settings around several genres for example a ‘spooky house’ that would be of interest to boys especially.
Taught with year 3-4 classes but can be easily adapted and used with years 5/6.

The first 4 questions require identification of the Marvel character from their sillouette
The next 4 questions participants should name the Marvel actor . actress
The final 6 questions are scenes from Marvel movies in which quizzers should identify the film the still is from (you may want to add a multiple choice element to this section of the round, these are included in the answers if you wish to share them with your quizzers.)
A set of worksheets I designed to help children practice using a dictionary. The first few letters are correct and children have to find the words in the dictionary, listing the page number at which they find them and correcting their spelling.

A document for parents and pupils to sign. Invaluable for E-Safety and security. Editable as I have included my word version of the document. Has gone down well with many schools.
This is a snippet from the top of the document...
Parents / Carers play a crucial role in ensuring that their children understand the need to use the internet / mobile devices in an appropriate way. Research shows that many parents and carers do not fully understand the issues and are less experienced in the use of ICT than their children. The school will therefore take every opportunity to help parents understand these issues through parents’ evenings, newsletters, letters, website / VLE and information about national / local e-safety campaigns / literature. This agreement is aimed at fostering that approach.
Invaluable and guaranteed to save you time.
A set of differentiated worksheets I made where children have to add the two numbers below to get the final brick of the top of the pyramid.
The harder worksheets require inverse operations. Fantastic for an activity relating to how additional and subtraction are linked, or reinforcing the concept.
