I created this worksheet as a support sheet for students struggling with drawing the structure of ions in preparation for drawing ionic bonds. This worksheet is best printed off on A3 and works to walk students through the steps involved in determining the electronic configuration of elements first as atoms and then when they form ions.
The layout is in a style that allows students to easily follow the process. Have used a similiar format in the past on calculation style questions in physics and students loved it!
