A short and simple French ghost story with accompanying translation and ‘find the word’ activities. Useful for final class before Halloween break.

Detailed notes based on 'le formulaire'/filling in an application form- which appears in the Ordinary Level Leaving Cert exam. Includes notes on short and long questions and also translations of key question words.

Five resources based on francophone artist Stromae. I use these resources in my Transition Year module and also with my ordinary level leaving cert classes. First is a worksheet and youtube link. Students watch an interview (in English) with Stromae and must note in English as many interesting points as they can. They then have to use the facts/info to make 8 sentences in French about Stromae (can be done individually or as a pair activity a good opportunity to use dictionaries). Listening activity in the form of a gapfill exercise using the lyrics of ‘Formidable’. A word bank can be given to facilitate differentiation if needed. The next activity and worksheet are based on the song Papaoutai. Firstly, there is a listening activity where the lyrics (printed in the larger font) are laminated and cut up into small chunks of text. Students work together in groups to listen to the song and re-order the lyrics correctly. This listening task is followed with the worksheet which takes a closer look at the lyrics. Students are asked to find different types of words/grammar in the text (e.g. an infinitive verb, an adverb etc…), then have to catagorize positive and negative adjectives and finally have to translate some potentially new words from the lyrics. There are two lyric sheets here for both of the songs mentioned about that can be used for a sing-a-long class activity (Students love it!) . Final worksheet is adapted from an authentic text (le Figaro) and is a quickfire interview with the artist. Accompanied by English comprehension questions. A 21 slide PPT based on Fold mountains. Suitable for 1st year students. Includes embedded video clips, key words and images/diagrams. There are some ‘to do’ and ‘homework’ slides which can be amended to suit the textbook, workbook or worksheet(s) you use yourself. The textbook and workbook we use is ‘Geography in Action’. A 17 slide ppt based on physical descriptions. Includes notes on hair, eyes and size. Includes ‘to-do’ slides which can be updated with relevant page numbers from the textbook you use. The book referenced is ‘Allons-Y 1’. Also includes photos of 4 celebrities which can be used to prompt an oral or writing activity. Final slide is a writing task and the success criteria is listed.

A 66 slide PPT based on Rivers. Introduction to rivers/key terms/stages of a river. Explanation of fluvial processes of erosion and transportation. Landforms of fluvial erosion and deposition. How people interact with rivers. Flooding - Case Study of River Shannon flooding 2015-2016. There are lots of diagrams/illustrations and videos embedded into the ppt. There are also several ‘to-do’/‘homework’ slides which direct the students to their textbook or activity book. We use ‘Geography in Action’ but these slides can be adapted to suit your own class/books. Also included is a self-assessment cloze test which summarises the chapter.

An 80 slide PPT based on 'Ma maison'. Aimed at HL Junior students or Ordinary level senior students. A different way to present key vocab. Each slide is colour coded (blue/pink/green) to convey the gender/number of the noun. Each slide also has a photo and a word. There are a couple of activity slides too e.g. write a paragraph about your house, work in pairs to orally describe the bedroom in the photo etc... Also attached is a comprehension with English questions which can be used at the end of the PPT presentation in class/for HW etc... Inputs, outputs and processes to print/laminate for class activity mentioned in above PPT. Students work in groups to categorise the inputs/processes/outputs and primary economic activity jobs. A 27 slide PPT on forestry. Includes key terms, learning intentions, images, an embedded clip from National Geographic, to-do slides and plenty of summary questions. All HW/Activity/To-do slides refer to the ‘Geography in Action’ textbook and workbook/portfolio book. These can easily be adapted to suit your own textbook. 3 word documents based on ‘En ville’ - Places in the town. A notes handout which revises the use of the preposition ‘a’ in French with the definite article. This reminds the students how to use the verb ‘aller’ with place names. A simple worksheet based on some places in the town - word translation, sentence translation and writing task. A second worksheet which gives students a description in French and the students must choose a place name from the word bank that best suits the description. Suitable for junior French students as an introduction to the topic. *For a PPT useful for presenting this vocab, see ‘My Shop’. This PPT has many place names along with a photo. This can be used to present the vocab and also to asses knowledge of the vocab.

A one page word document worksheet based on the professions/jobs in French. Contains one translation exercise and one comprehension exercise. Could be used for HW, class task or exam.

A simple one page Word Doc worksheet based on 'Le petit déjeuner' (Breakfast).

An 11 slide ppt on the Rugby World Cup (in French). Suitable for a strong 3rd year/Junior cycle class, TY or 5th year group. Also includes some sample exam questions. A full unit of work. Based on Junior Cycle Geography Course (Ireland) but can be easily amended to suit your own curriculum.

A grid which contains the most important verbs for Junior Cert (GSCE level) French in the infinitive, present, past and future tense. Very useful for students of any age/level/class. My students love it and it's their 'go to' resource for all written exercises. A must have resource for teaching French!
