As part of Theme 1 (La evolución de la sociedad española) in the Edexcel scheme of work, I created this two-hour lesson to discuss the role of grandparents. Plenty of authentic materials: a reading, a listening (created from a podcast seen in RTVE) and a translation (from El País).

KS4 (Year 9 - Year 11 low ability) lesson to practise vocabulary on free time activities. To make it a bit more current, I included pictures of Greta Thunberg doing different activities in her free time and this is how the vocabulary is introduced. All answers included.

I created this booklet to allow students to practise their speaking skills, in particular the picture-based task, with a cultural focus. The pictures used are all famous paintings found in the Museo del Prado in Spain. Looking for different ways to help students, I saw on Twitter the idea of a ladder reflecting elements needed for grades. It starts with an easy present tense sentence and finishes with a sentence which includes an indirect object pronoun. It can be used at the start of a lesson, to test how much students know on a particular subject or can be given as homework for students to work independently. Content is based on Pearson Edexcel’s GCSE theme 1: Who am I? Whole lesson on the context of Spain’s transition to democracy, explaining both the roles of the King Juan Carlos I and Adolfo Suárez, but focusing on Suárez. Authentic materials have been used for listening tasks and adapted for reading comprehension questions. There is a speaking at the end taken from the Edexcel exam in 2018.
