Quantitative chemistry revision

(1)
Revision lesson for Chemistry (Triple) Higher Tier Quantitative chemistry topic. Settling task - Retrieval grid 10 mins to fill from memory, then 10 mins in another colour to add in missing content from knowledge organiser/book/partner etc Main actvity - Calculations practice Ordered practice of all calculations in this topic, with a worked example for each. **UPDATE - Have now added the answers. Please do let me know if you spot any errors.

Titration IDEAL task (required practical)

(0)
Worksheet set out in the IDEAL structure to cover the titration required practical. Exam question for Link section is from exampro. I - Identify the equipment D - Describe the method E - Explain the method A - Analyse the results L - Link to exam question
Atomic structure retrieval summary

Atomic structure retrieval summary

(0)
Revision worksheet using a range of retrieval practice and thinking hard strategies (includes colour code/categorise, true or false, label the diagrams and odd one out). Useful revision summary that really requires pupils to think about what they have learnt rather than just repeat. Can also use the keyword quota activity to then assess pupils’ scientific literacy on the topic.
Strcuture & Bonding picture prompt

Strcuture & Bonding picture prompt

(0)
Retrieval practice activity. Most useful as revision at the end of the topic as requires knowledge of all three bonding types. Each worksheet includes 5 pictures and the pupil must suggest how each picture links to the topic. Standard version are slightly easier to link to the topic (e.g. covalent bonding diagram for water). Hard version more conceptually challenging (e.g. pictures showing transfer, sharing etc)
Structure & Bonding comparison questions

Structure & Bonding comparison questions

(0)
Resource designed to help students unpick how to answer comparison questions at GCSE. Starts by breaking down the question, including command words and key terminology. Then splits the answer “structure strip” style - I would usually model this under the visualiser. Students to then try applying the technique to two more examples.
Electrolysis required practical booklet

Electrolysis required practical booklet

(0)
Resource folds into an A5 booklet with the visual instructions on the front and the exam-style questions on the inside. Includes a scientific literacy section focusing on key words in the required practical. Would usually use as students completed the required practical but would also be useful to allow students to follow along during a demonstration (COVID appropriate!)
Electrolysis of aqueous solutions

Electrolysis of aqueous solutions

(0)
A3 resource to help students visualise what is happening during the electrolysis of four different aqueous solutions (*AQA REQUIRED PRACTICAL). Splits the solutions into the anode and cathode. I tend to work through the first example on the visualiser in this order: 1 - Identify the four ions present in the solution 2 - Draw the two ions that would be attracted to the cathode in the cathode half, repeat for the anode. 3 - Use the rules printed at the top to then identify the product at each electrode. 4 - State the reason for each product (again using the rules at the top) Students can then try the other three examples on their own.
Structure & Bonding structure strips

Structure & Bonding structure strips

(0)
Structure strips to help students answer common Structure & Bonding explain questions. This resource is aimed at lower ability but could be used to aid structuring exam questions for any ability.
Reacting masses structure strips

Reacting masses structure strips

(0)
Starts with differentiated structure strips to help students through the reacting masses calculation using moles (GCSE Chemistry - Higher Tier) Orange strip - slightly more hints/support Blue strip - basic guidance through the calculation Then has examples for students try without the structure strip. Though step-by-step hints provided for any still struggling. Would then follow with an exam question from appropriate exam board and ask students to complete without any help.

GCSE Chemistry flipped learning/revision booklet

GCSE Chemistry flipped learning/revision booklet

(2)
This booklet fits the new AQA Combined and Separate Science Chemistry courses. This booklet is intended to be used as a flipped learning activity before the start of each topic, but can also be used as a independent revision booklet. See instructions on the front: Before the topic • Use your revision guide to answer the 10 comprehension questions covering the basics relating to that topic. • The aim is that you cover these beforehand so that we can spend lesson time on application of knowledge. • All information can be found on the revision guide pages that are referenced for each topic. After the topic • Look back over your original answers and add to them using purple pen. Extension Each topic will have an extension question that requires you to apply your knowledge of the basics. You can attempt this before or after the topic. The revision guide page references are for the Collins AQA guides.

10 Resources
This is a series of 10 projects (all of which can be found individually in my shop) to cover all KS3 content before beginning GCSE. It is intended to take 1 term, with each project taking 4 to 6 lessons. This fits with schools wishing to start GCSE part way through Y9. The projects could also be used to consolidate or support throughout KS3 and GCSE depending of the needs of the groups.
