End of Year quiz for use within Science lessons towards the end of term.
There are 8 Quiz rounds to choose from (I usually have the folder open on the board and let one team at a time choose which round we do).
*There are several science based rounds, more loosely based science rounds as well as some generic rounds.
*
Revision worksheet for the new Exploring Science 8H unit all about rocks.
*Intended to be printed as an A3 double sided worksheet - has learning outcomes on reverse side to check learning against.
*
CC4c lesson from the new Edexcel combined science GCSE (9-1) all about electron configuration and the periodic table.
The lesson includes electron shells, electron configuration and electron configuration patterns in the periodic table.
CC17b lesson from the new edexcel combined science GCSE (9-1) all about the changing atmosphere.
The lesson includes how oceans were formed, the effect of photosynthesis on gases in the atmosphere, evidence to support the evolution of photosynthetic organisms, the test for oxygen, a graph task and a six mark question.
Revision worksheet for the new Exploring Science 7H unit all about atoms, elements and molecules.
*Intended to be printed as an A3 double sided worksheet - has learning outcomes on reverse side to check learning against
*
CC4a lesson from the new Edexcel Science GCSE looking at Elements and the Periodic Table. Including; how elements are sorted in the periodic table, what Mendeleev did and predicting properties of elements.
CC4b lesson from the Edexcel combined science GCSE (9-1) all about atomic number and the periodic table.
The lesson includes the work of Henry Moseley, how the modern periodic table is arranged, investigating properties of metals/non-metals and explaining the iodine-tellurium pair reversal.
(There is a practical task during the lesson which references a worksheet from the activeteach but the practical could be done without this extra resource or omitted completed)
CC13d lesson from the Edexcel combined science GCSE (9-1) all about group 0.
The lesson includes what the group 0 elements are, their physical properties, chemical properties and uses.
A collection of 3 lessons looking at the Science of Superheroes and students designing their own superhero. Used with year 7 students, but could be used for the rest of KS3 and higher up KS2. All worksheets are included within the PowerPoint (as hidden slides, that just need printing off).
Lesson 1:
Starter-listing superheroes and thinking how we can group/classify them.
Activity- look at origins of powers, types of powers and features to think about in designing a costune. Introduce task of designing a superhero, start some rough planning work.
Plenary- thinking how magnetic powers might be useful in day to day life.
Lesson 2:
Starter- true or false activity about real life 'superpowers'.
Activity- designing superhero, thinking about powers and origin of powers.
Plenary- what does groot need to grow/survive.
Lesson 3:
Starter- peer assess each other work around the classroom using post it notes, then making some improvements.
Activity- A story/cartoon strip about an accident in the lab where their superhero is first on the scene.
Plenary- answer the questions before magneto pulls the objects to him (questions could be changed to cover topics done recently).
CC3a lesson from the new Edexcel combined science GCSE (9-1) looking at the structure of an atom.
There is a task within the lesson that requires the use of the ActiveTeach worksheets but could be replaced with other worksheets, and a link to an ActiveTeach video which again could be replaced with other videos about atomic structure.
Revision worksheet for the new Exploring Science 9F unit all about reactivity.
*Intended to be printed as an A3 double sided worksheet - has learning outcomes on reverse side to check learning against
*
CC14c lesson from the new Edexcel combined science GCSE (9-1) all about catalysts.
The lesson includes what catalysts are, investigating catalysts, catalysts in industry, catalytic converters and enzymes.
CC13 unit for the Edexcel combined science GCSE (9-1) all about groups in the periodic table, including:
CC13a Group 1
CC13b Group 7
CC13c Halogen Reactivity
CC13d Group 0
CC3b lesson from the new Edexcel combined science GCSE (9-1) all about atomic number and mass number.
The lesson includes Rutherfords experiment, atomic number and mass number.
One of the tasks within the lesson requires the use of worksheets from the ActiveTeach but could be substituted with other available worksheets
CC5-7 topics from the Edexcel combined science GCSE (9-1).
Including:
CC5a Ionic Bonds
CC5b Ionic Lattices
CC5c Properties of Ionic Compounds
CC6a Covalent Bonds
CC7a Molecular Compounds
CC7b Allotropes of Carbon
CC7c Properties of Metals
CC7d Bonding Models
Some of the lesson may include worksheets/videos from the activetach but could easily be replaced by other available resources.

The lesson includes hazard symbols, pH scale, other indicators, a practical using different indicators, formula of common acids/alkalis, ions, polyatomic ions and the ions in acids & alkalis.
CC8c lesson from the new Edexcel science GCSE (9-1) all about bases and salts.
The lesson includes neutralisation, bases, word equation for reacting metal oxides and acids, how to name salts, state symbols, what happens to the ions during neutralisation, how to prepare soluble salts and a separate lesson on the CC8c core practical.
Revision task for the exploring science 7E topic all about mixtures and separation. The task involves student’s picking the odd one out from three choices and having to explain why they have made that choice.
*Answers are included on the second slide.
*
Revision activity to help students revise the 8E topic in the new Exploring Science scheme of work all about combustion. The idea is that students make their way around the clock, spending 5 minutes on each section.
