A lesson that focuses on source work but allows students to recap the Korean War. Lesson includes a source task, where stundents have to match sources with the message and then give evidence to back up their choice. There are 16 sources included, 4 different worksheets. I put two on an A3 page. The lesson also includes two GCSE source questions, with sentence starters for both, and a model answer for the 12 marker. Challenge tasks are included to stretch the top end.

Students recap what their lives were like before the war and then investigate what happened during the war that changed their lives. A lesson aimed at a high ability year 8 class. This looks at whether Louis was to blame for the downfall of the Bourbon monarchy. Students look at the events that faced Louis and how they would react then they find out what Louis himself did and the consequences. Students throughout should be questioned about why they would make the choices. Then why was Louis choice a mistake or did he have any other options. You should try and push for a balanced picture of Louis as much as possible. Then students should discuss what their verdict of Louis is. Was he stupid, naive or just a disaster of a king? This lesson comes with challenge tasks and a homework task (though i used this for by less able students in the lesson as well). This lesson is very much a narrative lesson. Get students to read the information.

Two activities that recap the 1920’s section of AQA’s USA topic. The game of draughts is differentiated so that one colour of the board has harder questions than the other. The finger twister can work with the powerpoint spinner. The revision clock worksheet allows students to check how much they understand of the topic. This can be followed by group work to fix the gaps that they have. There is also a Frogger inspired board game and Blockbusters

First lesson in a SOW that looks at the Norman conquest. Students have to read the information about two of the claimants and then choose one to write a speech about as if they were that king and why he should become king of England after Edward the confessor. There is a writing frame for weaker ability students writing a speech as if they are William.

All the key words have images to help prompt students. These are great for revision. I print them so that 8 are on 1 page so they are smaller. Then laminate Following tasks can be completed with them: - Students have to define key words given to them - Students have to group key words that link together -Students can write definitions of the back and test each other. - Give a table the whole back and time them whilst sorting them into groups of defining them. - Use these are cards for dictionary/taboo/ charades

This lesson is aimed at looking at how the monarchy’s power changed under King Richard II. Students look at why the Peasant’s Revolt happened under king Richard. Students are challenged to think what this shows about the power of medieval monarchs. There is a GCSE styled question with sentence starters for the less able. There are challenge tasks to stretch the top end. There is also a literacy focus as well, where students need to correct literacy mistakes. There is also a model answer where students use it provide template and to redraft their work. They can also discuss what is good and how they could improve it.

This lesson looks at what was happening to African Americans in the 1950’s focusing on the murder of Emmett Till. The lesson is based around the song by Bob Dylan. Students learn about the events of the murder and analyse the song lyrics. Students then complete a GCSE styled question. There is a model answer as well as sentence starters. Students are challenged to compare the lives of African American in the 50’s with what they have learn about the 1920’s.

This lesson looks at whether there were any winners or losers in the Korean War, it includes a GCSE question with sentence starters, as well as a model answer to evaluate. Students carry out a task reflecting on everything they have studied to work out winners and losers but can also use the fact sheet provided if they get stumped. The class can then have a vote using the voting slide and discuss results.
