Greatest Common Factor & Lowest Common Multiple

(0)
This pack of resources covers the Math topics of the Greatest (or Highest) Common Factor (GCF) and the Lowest Common Multiple (LCM). Whilst this may seem a small disconnected topic it is actually packed with a lot of Math that includes practice with multiplication and division, factors, factor pairs, prime numbers and prime factors, the distributive property of multiplication, entering numbers into simple numerical formulae & writing numbers with exponents, all of which are excellent preparation for the algebra work they will be facing later on. As such this resource of 9 Sets of worksheets could be easily spread throughout the year to build up the various competences and complement other topics in your syllabus. The core method used in both is listing and comparing so students get lots of great practice with their multiplication (and division). However additional methods have been included that combine with knowledge of other areas in Math and show the connection between the GCF & LCM. Set 1: Factor Pairs Set 2: Find the Greatest Common Factor of 2 Numbers Set 3: Find the Greatest Common Factor of 3 Numbers Set 4: Prime Factorization Set 5: Find the Greatest Common Factor (GCF) using Prime Factorization Set 6: Change an Addition to Multiplication with the GCF Set 7: Find the Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) of 2 Numbers Set 8 Find the Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) of 2 Numbers using Prime Factorization Set 9: Find the LCM of 2 Numbers using the HCF The worksheets are, as always in Jeff’s Notebooks, (almost unlimited), and differentiated. Why have multiple ranges of numbers for each Set ? This offers the possibility for the student to initially focus on the process and aim of the specific method outlined rather than their skills with multiplication or division. However when ready they can move on to a more challenging set of questions that brings these skills into play. So, how many worksheets are there exactly ? Almost Unlimited. At the click of a button all numbers are randomized, so you can create as many different worksheets as you need for classwork, homework, revision, preparing for assessment, fillers etc and the numbers will change every time. These are straightforward no-prep worksheets that require no extra work. Simply CLICK-PRINT AND GO. This makes them ideal to have printed and ready for a replacement teacher if needed. Teachers Guide This includes notes on the most popular methods used. Answers are automatically generated every time. Practice plotting and reading coordinates of objects located in the first quadrant of the Cartesian x-y Plane where the numbers are all positive with these Ready To Print And Go Worksheets. There is a selection of graphics to choose from - leaves, astronaut icons, geometric shapes, and letters each of which has two different activities: Finding the coordinates of points on an x-y Grid in the 1st Quadrant Given set of coordinates, locate their position on an x-y Grid in 1st Quadrant Also, for a final set of worksheets, again there are the two activities, but this time the points drawn on the axis connect to form simple geometric shapes. These can be used as a starting point for further questioning or investigation that could include: naming the shapes drawing lines of symmetry and labeling coordinates that form the line finding the coordinates of the geometric centre of each shape apply transformations and record the new coordinates … **How many Worksheets in total ? ** ALMOST UNLIMITED because at the click of a button all the numbers or location of objects are randomized providing you with a new set of questions for classwork, homework, revision, assessments etc. You will also have 2 sets of blank worksheets so that your students can create their own worksheets, or use them for the investigations suggested above Answers are automatically generated every time. This resource contains 11 Sets of scaffolded NO PREP Worksheets where students learn to express a fraction with denominator 10 as an equivalent fraction with denominator 100, and use this to add two fractions with respective denominators of 10 and 100. Students will practice these skills using visual models, and then through a section of transitional worksheets move onto numerical exercises and challenges for the early finishers. To try out a Freebie sampler of one of these worksheets click here. The first 6 sets provide practice for the core work. With the visual model of squares divided into 10 and 100 parts, students are asked to find the fractions colored in - Set 1 color in the areas indicated by the given fraction - Set 2 Set 3 - students practice looking for the connection between equivalent fractions given in 1/10ths and 1/100ths using the visual models. Seeing that 1 tenth is the same as 10 hundredths is central to the whole process. A Teaching Page is included in the pack that shows the connection between 10ths and 100ths visually and numerically (multiplying numerator and denominator by 10) which will prepare your students for Set 4 which contains numerical questions. Sets 5 and 6 provide practice adding 1/100ths with and without visual support Sets 7, 8 & 9 - the core of the topic - adding a mix of 1/10ths & 100ths as follows Set 7 - add these fractions with visual support Set 8 - numerical questions with an intermediate step where students must show their conversion of the tenth fraction to a hundreth before the final addition Set 9 - numerical questions Challenges For the students who have mastered the above there are two extra sets of worksheets Set 10 - adding 3 fractions with a mix of tenths and hundredths Set 11 - equations with 3 fractions BUT students have to find the value of one of the addends. How many worksheets are there in total ? Almost unlimited … There are** 11** worksheet templates BUT at the click of a button numbers are randomized, so the questions change every time allowing you to create new worksheets at the same level for extra practice or revision throughout the year or even give groups of pupils in your class different sets of questions again all at the same level. The multiple levels of worksheets means that you can differentiate from the very start and have the freedom to set the pace of work that you deem is best for each student. Add and Subtract with Dienes within 100

Add and Subtract with Dienes within 100

(0)
‘Dienes’ refer to base-ten blocks used to introduce place value, addition, and subtraction. Dienes that pupils can manipulate with their hands are common in most elementary classrooms with the rods for 10s & squares for units etc. However at some point there needs to be a transition to the more formal methods of adding and subtracting, and this is the purpose of these resources. Students now see the Dienes to be added or subtracted, and with simple mental arithmetic add (or subtract) the rods (10s) and the units (1s) to obtain the solution. This is where it begins. The next step is to perform calculations where there is a need for ‘regrouping’ units into 10s for addition and ‘borrowing’ from the 10s to the units for subtraction. This transition from physical Dienes to Dienes on paper will then provide a good foundation to move onto addition and subtraction without the need for visual support. Worksheets & Digital Teaching Resources Addition Both the worksheets & teaching resources are set at two levels: The sum of the units are always below 10 The solutions require regrouping of 10 ones as 1 ten. Subtraction Both the worksheets & teaching resources are again set at two levels. No borrowing is required, the minuend is always larger than the subtrahend. The minuend is always smaller than the subtrahend, so the solution requires borrowing from the 10s to the units How many worksheets are in each set ? Almost Unlimited. At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so you can create as many different worksheets as you need for classwork, homework, revision, preparing for assessment, fillers etc and the numbers will change every time. The Digital Teaching Resources are designed to be used on an interactive whiteboard for whole class teaching or on a computer for one-to-one tuition. You can keep on generating as many new questions as you need. No-Prep Worksheets These are straightforward no-prep worksheets that require very little instructions. They are ideal for lesson fillers, and to have ready for a replacement teacher if needed. Answers are automatically generated every time. Percentage Bar Graphs provide visual support to help introduce percentages in an informal way by building on the equivalence of 50%, 25% & 75% and their fractions 1/2, 1/4 & 3/4 plus the knowledge that 10% =1/10 and 1/10th of any multiple of 10 or 100 can easily be found by removing the last zero of the number. From this starting point pupils can then proceed to calculate multiples of 5% or 1% of quantities. The Worksheets and Teaching Pages are set at 5 levels 10%, 25%, 50%, & 75% of multiples of 100 10%,20%,30% …90%, of multiples of 10 10%,20%,30% …90% of multiples of 100 5%,10%,15% … 95% of multiples of 10 Any percentage of multiples of 100 Answers will always be whole numbers.
