This assembly grabs the students attention with the first slide asking them to vote whether or not school should start at 10am instead of 8.50. The assembly goes on to look at the arguments for and against and the current research that is going on in the uk at the moment with 100 test school. I went on to tell them that unfortunately we haven't been selected for the trial but its findings could impact us. I then went on to say that until then they should take note of the sleep scientists top tips for a good night sleep which includes the science of blue light from mobile phone screens and its effect on the sleep hormone melatonin. I printed these cards of for students with corresponding pages in the Edexcel additional science book (purple one) and got them to answer the questions accordingly and in turn making their own flash cards. They then whole punched the corners and treasury tagged them together. Great little revision resource.
