Year 5 homework for covering - Read, write, order and compare numbers to at least 1000000 and determine the value of each digit. Round any number up to 1000000 to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000 and 100000. There are 3 differentiated sheets 5A, 5B and 5C. In my school, (Year 5 and 6) we send homework each night Monday - Thursday, so it is designed to be printed A4 and given out on the Monday at the end of the lesson. We mark it at the beginning of the next lesson and discuss any misconceptions etc. I have included the same homework without the days and weeks too so that you can use it in a way suitable for you. A Japanese theme game. The children play the game which leads on to - Investigating the frequency score of 2 dice. (What are the best numbers to choose to help you win the game next time?) Lessons include find the odd one out starter activities, success criteria and worksheets. There are also questions to encourage the children’s mathematical thinking. My class find it fun to make up a quick Sumo dance… where they bow to each other before and after each game.
