A fun plenary or starter to practise weather and seasons for GCSE level, for example page 118 in Stimmt AQA GCSE Higher, but can be used with any text book or for revision.

This is a Tarsia puzzle to practise and revise German school vocabulary for GCSE students, including subjects, rooms, uniform and rules. A tarsia consists of puzzle pieces that the students cut out and then match words to form a certain shape (ideally students don’t know what shape that is). They will quickly realise their mistakes if the puzzle won’t fit together. Great activity for Friday afternoons or end of term. This download includes: sheets for students with jumbled up puzzle pieces, a answer sheet for the teacher in list form and showing the shape. If the print quality of the powerpoint is not good enough, please use the pdf file for the students.

Use the PowerPoint to show what Euro coins and notes look like (including German, French and Spanish coins) and the worksheet to practise recognising euros and writing prices in the target language. The example and the answers are in German but otherwise the worksheet can used in any language.

A presentation for A-Level students on separable and inseparable verbs in German with exercises and answers.

A presentation of different genres of films in German that can be used as a quiz. There are six rounds including recognising genres from posters, reading film descriptions and listening to trailers. Can be used to introduce the topic of film, for example in Chapter 2 Zeit fur Freizeit in Stimmt GCSE. Answers after each round and again all together at the end of the presentation, depending on the way the quiz is played and marked. Please read the slide notes.

A web-based activity to introduce students to French geography and culture and first French words. Unlike other webquests, students here use internet research to solve puzzles and codes while learning about France. It also does not require any printing as all answers are entered and checked on the webpage. Ideal activity at the beginning of a course in French language or European geography or as a fun activity last lesson before the holidays. This is an introduction with exercises on how to use the Collins online dictionary and how to avoid common pitfalls when translating. No preparation or printing required and all tasks will mark themselves. The examples used are in German but no prior knowledge of German is required so it could be used for students of other languages as the principles of using a dictionary will be the same.
