More About Clever Speller
One of the most difficult aspects of learning to spell is that English is not a phonetic language. Every sound in the English language can be spelled in more than one way which makes building phonics skills a complex process.
Our story based approach to spelling helps to provide context for phonics to make sense and brings phonics to life with purpose written stories full of words showing how sounds can be spelled in many ways.
Clever Speller stories are different to most decodable readers and passages. They are written in full length colourful picture book style, with beautifully illustrated scenes, engaging characters and imaginative adventures.
Our stories provide a link between decodable readers and storybooks. They include a variety of words ranging from simple to complex, with the focus sound letters printed in green to assist with decoding.
Teach 300 ways to spell the 44 sounds of the English language with anchor charts, flash and flip cards, sound walls, bunting and assessment grids. Colourful pictures and relevant words make learning to spell easy and memorable. Reference charts ensure no gaps and enable differentiation to cater for learning levels. 2 versions are included to accommodate differences between US and UK pronunciation of some sounds. This set of resources aligns with any spelling methodology, the Science of Reading, Orton Gillingham, Jolly Phonics etc.
