In Japan there is a tradition that the mothers of children of kindergarten age provide their children with a lunchbox two or three times a week to take with them to school. Usually, these are made early in the morning along with breakfast. A lot of effort goes into making a tasty, nutritious and visually appealing meal that will be put into a small lunchbox called a ‘bento’, which is then wrapped in a colorful cloth napkin. The images in this pack can be used with classes of all ages and backgrounds, and in different ways according to the teacher’s skills and inclinations. Following is a list of the contents and some possible uses. 1. A set of 50 high quality JPEG images that can be printed out for use in games and tasks of many kinds. 2. A 14 page PDF document of the same images grouped into sets of 4 that can be used for bingo, matching or comparison type games. 3. A Powerpoint 14 slide presentation of the same 4 grouped images for demonstration purposes, or classroom quizzes. There are sample questions in the notes section of each slide, which are aimed at kindergarten/elementary level, but can be altered to suit the level of the class. 4. An eleven page comic book to introduce the history of the Hindenburg. It outlines the development and first year of this gigantic airship before describing what happened on the fateful day. Two important events from the early years of aviation history. The triumph of Lindbergh's crossing of the Atlantic which triggered the massive growth of the aviation industry and the later disaster of the Hindenburg which signaled the end of the giant zeppelin's as a viable form of air transport. Both are presented in an engaging comic book format and contain quizzes, worksheets and links to useful videos and other sources of information. There is a need in literature and history classes to evaluate content presented in different media formats including visually and aurally.' My second fun and engaging interactive murder mystery that can be adapted for any student grade. The focus of this one is on witness observation and deduction from visual and aural clues within the story. This resource can be used to practice a variety of different skills, including the basics of listening, writing, vocabulary and grammar or more advanced skills such as use of inference and critical thinking. Great for regular writing classes, group work, homework assignment or a fun fill in class. The main advantage of this resource is that the teacher can mix and match the materials outlined below to work with any class. There are materials for print only, display (slideshow), multimedia classrooms, or student iPad/laptop use. This gives the teacher the flexibility to make a lesson adapted to not just the age or level of the class, but the available technology as well. In addition, there are teacher explanations for each resource. The materials include: 1. The story video. This is an animated story about a group of 6 people attending a house party to celebrate the owner's purchase of a new painting. There is a blackout and one person will die. The students will watch and listen to find clues as to what happened to the victim and deduce the identity of the murderer. 2. A student task sheet consisting of 8 pages in PDF, containing and outline of the story, resources for recording the timeline and suspect movements, the murder scene, suspect motives, story cards and print for essay writing. 3. A set of separate motive cards with pictures of the suspects. In color and black and white. 4. The same suspect motives as a short movie. This is available as an online video. It can be used where listening is the focus of the lesson. 5. A separate worksheet for new vocabulary for those students that need it. 6. A 12 page PDF explanation resource for teachers. 7. This set of materials is a compilation of my products, Flashcards and Language Games for Kids 1 and 2, and consists of flashcards and games that can be used with kindergarten grade students and/or young learners of English as a Second Language. All materials are in black and white and can be copied or colored. (There are also some colored versions for some of the games.) I have included PDF files of each set of flashcards or games. Flashcards; 1. A set of 16 different animals. 2. A set of 8 pieces of furniture. 3. A set of 8 prepositions. 4. A set of 16 different continuous verb pictures. 5. A set of 8 weather conditions. 6. A set of 8 meals in color and black and white. 7. A set of 4 mealtimes with empty clock for writing times. If they don’t know the vocabulary already, the flashcards can be used to teach the words for use in the following two games. To expand vocabulary students can color the cards as well. Games; 1. Zoo animal collectors game. This is similar to ‘Battleships’ except the aim in this case is to collect as many different animals as you can from your partners ‘zoo’. The game provides practice for colors, numbers to 10, and animals. 2. Find the animal game. This can be used after the students become proficient in animal, furniture words and use of prepositions (flashcards). Students ask each other the question, ‘Where is my ? to find and draw animals on their print. 3. Clothes domino game. Usual dominoes game used to practice colors, plurals and words using 'pairs'. A pair of shoes etc. Played in two's or groups of 3,4.. 4. My Things game. Using 'Do you have my...? questions and classroom object sets for practicing adjective order. Animated video lesson. Every year on November 5th, Britain celebrates the event known as 'Bonfire Night' or sometimes 'Guy Fawkes Night' with fireworks and bonfires all over the country. This short, humorous video tells the history behind the event. The story follows the plot by a group of Catholics to assassinate the first Stuart king of England, James 1, by using gunpowder in an attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament. 13 pages This lesson contains. 1. These materials have been designed to provide a brief introduction to Gothic horror and are also great for Halloween! I have provided a variety of multi media resources including two short animated videos and a ‘Prezi’ (like a Powerpoint but more fun!) along with associated quizzes and texts as a PDF resource which can be tailored to the needs of the students. There are two versions in this package. One for older students, and one for students of ESL or younger students The materials can be printed out and used in a multi media classroom, and the Prezi can be downloaded and installed on a computer for ease of use. Alternatively, copies of the PDF, which contains links to all online materials, can be purchased for students to install on their own computers so they can access everything directly. 16 pages The lesson contains; Version 1: Ages 14-16 1. PDF student and teacher documents that give an outline of the history of Gothic horror stories and the elements that are recognized as important to the genre. 2.
