This low-prep card sorting activity is a perfect way to teach life science concepts and vocabulary. Card sorts provide students with hands-on activities to reinforce their learning. The materials can be used in numerous ways and are easy to differentiate for multiple ages and abilities. Use the sorting sheets to have young students categorize the pictures into producers and consumers, add the category “decomposer” for older students and challenge your advanced learners to further categorize by the three main types of consumers. Chemical and Physical Properties and Changes Activity Card Sorts
This bundle includes two sorting activities for chemistry. The first is classifying properties of matter as either physical or chemical and the second is classifying changes in matter. There are pictures for 12 chemical changes, 12 physical changes, 3 chemical properties (flammability, reactivity, toxicity) and 9 physical properties (conductivity, color, density, luster, magnetism, melting point, odor, solubility, viscosity). Six Simple Machines Sorting Activity
Did you know that a screwdriver is an example of a wheel and axle or that a broom is a third class lever? This sort is a quick and easy hands-on way to have your students learn about real-life examples of the six types of simple machines. It can be used in so many ways! Laminate the large pictures to use as a center or station activity or use the one-page sheet and small pictures for assignments, assessments, or interactive notebooks. Differentiate by changing the amount and which pictures students use. Increase the difficulty by having students sort levers and/or pulleys into their three classes.
